While every streamer has done this, Netflix is a big offender, and it&#8217;s frustrating. However, over on Amazon Prime, a production change has been made that makes it seem like we could get new seasons of beloved shows way faster than we&#8217;re currently accustomed to. While there are some exceptions to this rule (<em>Nobody Wants This<\/em> got Season 2 out a little over a year after Season 1), it feels like some of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:most bingeable shows on Netflix;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2564797\/the-best-shows-to-binge-watch-on-netflix-right-now\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">most bingeable shows on Netflix<\/a> take years to produce. To that point, here&#8217;s a list of some of the wait times we&#8217;ve had to endure for some of my favorite projects from the streamer:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 safari:ml-6 list-disc\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong><em>Stranger Things<\/em><\/strong> is arguably one of the most infamous cases of waiting a long time between seasons. The show premiered in 2016, and the<em> <\/em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Season 5 finale;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/saw-stranger-things-finale-in-theater-after-watching-at-home-parts-hit-harder-second-time\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Season 5 finale<\/a> dropped on the last day of 2025. During that time, the wait between seasons got longer, with three years passing between Seasons 4 and 5.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 safari:ml-6 list-disc\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong><em>Bridgerton <\/em><\/strong>premiered in December 2020. Season 2 followed a little over two years later, in March 2022. Another two years passed before Season 3 premiered in May 2024. Then nearly two more years went by before Season 4 dropped in January 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 safari:ml-6 list-disc\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">After <strong><em>Wednesday<\/em><\/strong><strong> <\/strong>premiered in 2022, we had to wait nearly three years for Season 2&#8217;s premiere in 2025. Season 3 is in production, but we don&#8217;t have a release date.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 safari:ml-6 list-disc\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Season 1 of <strong><em>One Piece <\/em><\/strong>premiered in August of 2023, and about three years later, Season 2 was released on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Netflix's 2026 schedule;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/2026-netflix-movie-tv-show-release-dates\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix&#8217;s 2026 schedule<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Now, there are signs that Netflix is getting faster. Season 3 of <em>One Piece<\/em> and Season 5 of <em>Bridgerton<\/em> (which will <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:follow Francesca and Michaela;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/im-not-thrilled-francesca-leading-season-5-bridgeton-2-reasons\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">follow Francesca and Michaela<\/a>) are expected to come out in 2027. Plus, the anime adaptation got an early Season 3 renewal, while the romance got picked up for Seasons 5 and 6 at the same time (and before Season 4 came out).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, the streamer has a track record for holding out on renewing and taking forever to film. On the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:2026 TV schedule;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2026-tv-premiere-date-schedule-network-streaming-series\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">2026 TV schedule<\/a>, specifically, there are three shows (two of which are brand new) that got early renewals and therefore early productions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Let&#8217;s start with <strong><em>Off Campus<\/em><\/strong><strong>; <\/strong>the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:book-to-screen adaptation;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/movies\/features\/upcoming-book-to-screen-adaptations-what-to-read-before-the-movie-or-tv-show\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">book-to-screen adaptation<\/a> took the world by storm when it premiered in May. However, the cast found out they&#8217;d get to make Season 2 long before Season 1 was available to stream with an <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Amazon Prime subscription;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/amazon-prime-subscription-the-plan-the-price-and-whats-included\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon Prime subscription<\/a>. Yep, in February, <em>Off Campus<\/em> was renewed for Season 2, and then they began filming it a few days after the freshman installment came out. So, not only does Amazon have a lot of faith in this show, but it feels like we&#8217;ll easily get to see what happens next at Briar U within the next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meanwhile, the <em>Legally Blonde<\/em> prequel <em>Elle<\/em><strong> <\/strong>got renewed for Season 2 in January, and it wrapped on its sophomore installment before Season 1 even came out. Again, I&#8217;m optimistic we&#8217;ll get to see new episodes within the next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On a similar note, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Reacher;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/alan-ritchson-celebrated-reacher-season-5-renewal-complaining-about-dog\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Reacher<\/em><\/a><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:was renewed for Season 5;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/alan-ritchson-celebrated-reacher-season-5-renewal-complaining-about-dog\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> was renewed for Season 5<\/a> this spring, and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:production is set to start in July;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/streaming-news\/alan-ritchson-thrilling-update-reacher-season-5-before-season-4-premiere\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">production is set to start in July<\/a>. Notably, Season 4 hasn&#8217;t even come out yet; it will begin airing on August 12. So, it would seem logical that we&#8217;ll get Season 5 way sooner than we&#8217;ve gotten seasons in the past.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Obviously, there are Prime Video shows that have (or had) years-long waits between seasons, like <em>The Boys<\/em> and <em>Rings of Power<\/em>. However, recently, it feels like the streamer is putting in a massive effort to trust its programming, renew earlier, and get shows out faster, meaning we don&#8217;t have to wait so long between seasons.
