(Photo courtesy of Donna Griffith)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A baseball player from Livermore was drafted this month by the Kansas City Royals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Centerfielder Tanner Griffith, 21, was selected in the 11th round at pick No. 329 on July 12. He signed with the Major League Baseball team one week later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was a surreal feeling. This is something I\u2019ve dreamed of since I was a little kid,\u201d Griffith said of learning he was set to be drafted. \u201cTo make that dream come true is something special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The De La Salle High School graduate most recently played ball at Saint Mary\u2019s College in Moraga. (Image courtesy of Donna Griffith)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Griffith played locally on the Livermore Longshots, De La Salle team and Diablo Valley Oaks through De La Salle, and he participated in the Little League Intermediate World Series hosted in his hometown Livermore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Griffith attributes his athletic ability in part to playing an array of sports during his youth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy parents put me in every sport I wanted to play growing up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Griffith played basketball, volleyball, soccer and of course, baseball.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnything he tried, he excelled at, so we knew that he was gonna be something someday,\u201d his mother, Donna Griffith, told Livermore Vine. \u201cI don\u2019t know how far we actually thought, but he\u2019s a super athletic kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-2    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since being drafted, Griffith has traveled to the Royals organization\u2019s offseason base in Arizona to begin practice routines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to the journey that comes ahead,\u201d he said. \u201cYou get to play in a ton of different cities, a ton of different ballparks, with a ton of different guys from all over the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside>\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<section id=\"block-16\" class=\"below-content widget widget_block\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Most Popular<\/h4>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"block-15\" class=\"below-content widget widget_block\"\/>\t<\/div>\n<p><em> \u2018 The preceding article may include information circulated by third parties \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> \u2018 Some details of this article were extracted from the following source www.livermorevine.com \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tanner Griffith of Livermore was drafted this month by the Kansas City Royals.
