There also will be free bicycle rentals and school supplies, food and drinks given to kids who register for the event. She has recently been in New Orleans for several weeks working with Saigon Jazz Revival, a contemporary music project co-directed by Marion Hoang Ngoc Hill, Oscar Rossignoli and Steve Lands. The ensemble of New Orleans musicians was inspired by the Vietnamese jazz scene of the 1950s through the mid-\u201970s, and Saigon Jazz Revival has this year performed with Vietnam\u2019s Queen of Soul, Carol Kim. Dong Lan and the Saigon Jazz Revival will give a peek at some of their recent collaborations during two concerts hosted by Couches on Friday, July 31. Hsu lives in Tawain but spent years in the U.S. and is no stranger to New Orleans. While visiting the city years ago, he was influenced to write \u201cMusic for the River Jazz Suite,\u201d about the Mississippi River and Taiwan\u2019s Love River. Hsu returns to New Orleans for two performances on Sunday, Aug. 2, at Snug Harbor.
