Que Rico Saturdays<\/h3>\n

The New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market is presenting a Latin party night on Saturdays in July and August, featuring music by VDJ Emotion and hosted by Don Sevilla. At the next edition, on Saturday, Aug. 1, VDJ Emotion will mix in songs from Colombian pop artist Karol G\u2019s album \u201cMa\u00f1ana Ser\u00e1 Bonito\u201d throughout the night. Music education organization NOLAKEYS hosts its sixth annual Stop the Violence youth bike ride on Saturday, Aug. 1. Kids ages 11 to 18 can ride a route together around Mid-City, and there will be a party bus for kids under 11 and their parents. There also will be free bicycle rentals and school supplies, food and drinks given to kids who register for the event. The Body and Big | Brave<\/h3>\n

The bands The Body and Big | Brave are both celebrated for their experimental approach to heavy music, each pushing the boundaries of doom and sludge in their own ways. \u2019You Have No Idea How Far I\u2019ll Go\u2019<\/h3>\n

In his new work, \u201cYou Have No Idea How Far I\u2019ll Go,\u201d choreographer Calvin Rowe reimagines the story of Orpheus\u2019s descent into the underworld through a noirish lens. Landon Strause and Sierra Carvalho perform their original score live. Rowe has danced with Lightwire Theater, Flock Dance and Of Moving Colors. Saigon Jazz Revival and Dong Lan<\/h3>\n

Vietnamese singer and songwriter Dong Lan blends traditional music from her home country with modern pop and style. She has recently been in New Orleans for several weeks working with Saigon Jazz Revival, a contemporary music project co-directed by Marion Hoang Ngoc Hill, Oscar Rossignoli and Steve Lands. The ensemble of New Orleans musicians was inspired by the Vietnamese jazz scene of the 1950s through the mid-\u201970s, and Saigon Jazz Revival has this year performed with Vietnam\u2019s Queen of Soul, Carol Kim. Dong Lan and the Saigon Jazz Revival will give a peek at some of their recent collaborations during two concerts hosted by Couches on Friday, July 31. Vincent Hsu Jazz Ensemble<\/h3>\n

Bassist and composer Vincent Hsu mixes jazz, Afro-Cuban influences and Taiwanese music into his sound. Hsu lives in Tawain but spent years in the U.S. and is no stranger to New Orleans. While visiting the city years ago, he was influenced to write \u201cMusic for the River Jazz Suite,\u201d about the Mississippi River and Taiwan\u2019s Love River.
