Teenieping\u201d (2020\u2013) will co-produce a 13-episode K-pop-themed animated series set for global streaming release in 2028.<\/p>\n<p><figcaption itemprop=\"caption\" class=\"\">The logos of K-pop agency and music label SM Entertainment, left, and animation studio SAMG Entertainment<\/figcaption><figcaption itemprop=\"author\" class=\"\" data-byline-prefix=\"\">SM ENTERTAINMENT<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-element-guid=\"97f061c8-d71a-49e9-bf58-7123b97f3223\">\n<p>SM Entertainment said Monday it is teaming up with local animation studio SAMG Entertainment to co-produce an animated series built around K-pop.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The companies signed a co-production agreement for an animated series tentatively titled \u201cSuperhero Idol Project\u201d (translated).<\/p>\n<p>The series is aimed at developing\u00a0new animation intellectual property (IP) targeting the global market.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuperhero Idol Project\u201d is slated to be a 13-episode animated series combining a K-pop-inspired world with original storytelling, aimed at viewers from their teens to their 20s and 30s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe intend to blend artist IP with a superhero narrative in an attempt to draw both K-pop fans and animation audiences,\u201d said SM.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each episode will run about 20 minutes. Its release is targeted for 2028 through global streaming platforms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>SM will handle the planning and production of the series&#8217; key music, as well as participate in the vocals and performances featured in the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe companies plan to expand the project beyond animation production into an integrated IP business spanning music, concerts, artist management and video licensing,\u201d SM said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>SAMG Entertainment, formerly known as\u00a0SAMG Animation, was founded in 2000 and is best known for producing the wildly popular magical preschool series \u201cCatch!
