Kelly Ripa is taking time off from hosting Live with Kelly and Mark<\/em> while recovering from gum graft surgery<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Mark Consuelos revealed the news on Monday, July 27, adding that Ripa isn\u2019t allowed to talk while she heals<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Kevin Jonas filled in as a guest co-host on Monday, with more stars set for the rest of the week<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Mark Consuelos<\/a> has a star-studded lineup of guest co-hosts to fill in for wife Kelly Ripa<\/a> as she recovers from surgery.<\/p>\n On the Monday, July 27 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark<\/em>, Consuelos revealed that Ripa will be absent<\/a> from the talk show after undergoing a gum graft surgery.<\/p>\n Consuelos, 55, added that Ripa, 55, is \u201cdoing well\u201d but, per doctor\u2019s orders, she\u2019s not allowed to talk.<\/p>\n Ripa is expected to be absent from Live <\/em>for the next week, a rep for the show confirmed to PEOPLE.<\/p>\n Consuelos was joined by guest co-host Kevin Jonas<\/a> on Monday\u2019s episode. The Jonas Brothers star, 38, will be back to fill in on Tuesday. Other guest co-hosts this week will be Mila Kunis<\/a> (Wednesday), Pamela Adlon<\/a> (Thursday) and Scott Foley<\/a> (Friday).<\/p>\n Kevin Jonas and Mark Consuelos on July 27, 2026Credit: ABC<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n \u201cHer dentist said five years ago, \u2018You can do it in about five years,\u2019 \u201c Consuelos shared during Monday\u2019s broadcast. \u201cAnd she joked, \u2018I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d still be on the air in five years.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n He also added, \u201cI\u2019m trying to keep her to follow the rules, follow the directions,\u201d while she\u2019s on the mend. That includes eating only soft foods, avoiding straws and resisting the urge to inspect the surgical site while she heals.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, it\u2019s painful,\u201d Consuelos, who shares three kids with Ripa<\/a>, said of her recovery. \u201cBut she famously doesn\u2019t feel pain. When she goes into the dentist she doesn\u2019t use the novocaine. But this one hurts, so I know it\u2019s bad.\u201d<\/p>\n For Ripa, this year marks 25 years hosting Live<\/em>. The former soap actress joined the show in February 2001, replacing\u00a0Kathie Lee Gifford<\/a> as Regis Philbin<\/a>\u2018s co-host. After the late Philbin retired in 2011, Ripa became the head of the show.<\/p>\n Ripa recently told <\/a>Variety<\/em><\/a>she isn\u2019t certain how long she\u2019ll continue as host of <\/a>Live<\/em><\/a> but she wants the show<\/a> to continue after her.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to see this show stay on the air as long as linear TV lives,\u201d she said. \u201cThe show is far more important than any two hosts, so I just want the show to live forever because it\u2019s a really, really great piece of history. It\u2019s also a great way for people to have worry-free TV that they can watch with their kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
