Mark Consuelos<\/a> shared some surprising news with Live With Kelly and Mark<\/a><\/em> viewers on Monday, July 27.<\/p>\n Kevin Jonas<\/a> joined Consuelos on the daytime talk show\u2019s Monday episode, stepping in for Kelly Ripa<\/a>. \u201cFilling in for Kelly today is Kevin Jonas! Thanks for flying the plane with me today,\u201d Consuelos exclaimed. Jonas replied, \u201cI\u2019m so excited.\u201d<\/p>\n Consuelos revealed that Ripa\u2019s absence is due to a recent medical issue<\/a>. \u201cKelly sends her love. Kelly had a little bit of \u2014 well, it\u2019s not a little \u2014 a gum graft surgery,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd her dentist said five years ago, \u2018You can do it in about five years.\u2019 And she joked, \u2018I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d still be on the air in five years.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n While Consuelos noted that Ripa is \u201cdoing well\u201d and \u201cdoing great,\u201d he said she\u2019s \u201cnot allowed to talk\u201d amid her recovery. \u201cWow. That\u2019s gotta be the hardest thing that she\u2019s ever done,\u201d Jonas quipped.<\/p>\n Consuelos said he\u2019s been \u201ctrying to keep her to follow the rules, follow the directions.\u201d Jonas jokingly asked if Ripa uses a bell to alert Consuelos when she needs help, but Consuelos clarified that they communicate via text.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a list of things that you\u2019re not allowed to do \u2014 talking, she has to eat soft food, you can\u2019t suck out of a straw,\u201d Consuelos detailed. \u201cYou can\u2019t examine it, which means pulling down the lip. And so, last night, she\u2019s like, \u2018Can you look?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018I\u2019m not pulling your lip down.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Jonas went on to ask, \u201cIs there pain?\u201d Consuelos replied, \u201cYeah, it\u2019s painful. But she famously doesn\u2019t feel pain. When she goes into the dentist, she doesn\u2019t really use the Novocain. But this one hurts, so I know it\u2019s bad.\u201d Jonas wrapped up the topic by stating he is \u201cwishing her well.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\tRelated\n\t\t<\/p>\n At the end of Monday\u2019s episode, Consuelos confirmed that Jonas will be back on the show the next day. Consuelos did not reveal when Ripa will be back in the Live<\/em> studio. Ripa, for her part, has not addressed her medical leave via social media.<\/p>\n While Jonas is best known as one-third of the Jonas Brothers<\/a>, he is no stranger to hosting TV shows. In addition to guest-hosting Live<\/em> a handful of times in years past, he famously co-hosted the ABC<\/a> reality show Claim to Fame<\/a><\/em> with his youngest brother, Franklin Jonas<\/a>. The series, which is currently on an indefinite hiatus after three seasons, saw the relatives of celebrities compete in challenges to take home a $100,000 prize.<\/p>\n Jonas will soon return to the small screen with the new movie Camp Rock 3<\/a><\/em>, which premieres on Disney Channel<\/a> and Disney+<\/a> next month.
