From live music and theater to a fresh farm experience, we\u2019re inviting everyone in the community to enjoy the best part of summer at Christopher A. Doherty Park! Here\u2019s a glimpse into what\u2019s coming your way at the pocket park on the corner of Linden St. and Wyoming Ave. in Downtown Scranton:<\/p>\n

You can buy locally grown produce from Hopkins Farm at the Electric City Farmers Market at Christopher A. Doherty Park in downtown Scranton.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Farm Fresh Tuesdays<\/h3>\n

Every Tuesday you can buy fresh produce and more from Hopkins Farms<\/a> and baked goods from Cypress House Bakery<\/a> at the new Electric City Farmers Market. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with live music from noon to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an ideal location for a farmers market,\u201d said Liz Baldi, business development director, Scranton Tomorrow<\/a>. \u201cWe saw this as an opportunity to address a downtown need and serve the many eateries eager to offer farm-to-table options in the business district. This is a convenient way for people who live and work downtown to buy locally grown fruits and veggies, and fresh baked goods within walking distance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Electric City Farmers Market is a project of Scranton Tomorrow supported by the Architectural Heritage Association (AHA).<\/p>\n

The Return of Pocket Park Live!<\/h3>\n

Now in its third year, Pocket Park Live is a celebration of art and culture with free concerts and theatrical performances in the park for all to enjoy. A project of Scranton Tomorrow and the City of Scranton Arts Committee, the series kicks off on Aug. 7 with NEPA Jazz Project<\/a> from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Doug Smith\u2019s Dixieland All-Stars<\/a> with special guest vocalist Tara Michel from 6 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re celebrating America\u2019s 250th<\/sup> anniversary with an Armed Forces medley for a portion of the show,\u201d Smith said. \u201cExpect an uplifting performance with musical improvisation and strong vocals from Tara Michel.\u201d A subgenre of Jazz, Dixieland dates back to early 20th<\/sup> century America. This style of music is one of the country\u2019s earliest original art forms.<\/p>\n
