Except this one is really happening, as <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/king-of-drag-season-2-new-host-judges-september-premiere-1236821480\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em><u><em>Variety<\/em><\/u><\/em><\/a> confirmed earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Because the gospel of this show still needs to be spread, a brief recap is necessary: <em><em>King of Drag<\/em><\/em> is a Revry original reality show, filmed in the style of a certain drag competition juggernaut franchise, except this one spotlights <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.them.us\/story\/drag-kings-explain-why-they-should-be-cast-on-rupauls-drag-race\" target=\"_self\"><u>the underappreciated world of kinging<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first season was one of <em><em>Them<\/em><\/em>\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.them.us\/story\/best-tv-shows-2025-clean-slate-the-last-of-us-overcompensating\" target=\"_self\"><u>best shows of 2025<\/u><\/a>, and we praised it for not only delivering a memorable winner \u2014 no spoilers\u2014 but for capturing some of the scrappy upstart energy of <em><em>RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em><\/em> season 1, which lest we forget was filmed in <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.them.us\/story\/best-tv-shows-2025-clean-slate-the-last-of-us-overcompensating\" target=\"_self\"><u>the basement of a Burbank studio<\/u><\/a>. I\u2019d like to see <em><em>King of Drag<\/em><\/em> get access to Ru money, but there\u2019s also something really cool about being into the show in its early days, and hoping that it can help do for drag kings what <em><em>Drag Race<\/em><\/em> has done for the queens.<\/p>\n<p>And lucky for me \u2014 and the other fans who watched a combined 33 million minutes of season 1 \u2014 <em><em>Variety<\/em><\/em>\u2019s report on season 2 just gets better with each sentence: Cameron Esposito of <em><em>Take My Wife<\/em><\/em> and <em><em>Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em><\/em> is hosting (yes, please, also go buy her memoir <em><em>Save Yourself<\/em><\/em>). The main panel of judges \u2014 known as the Kings\u2019 Court \u2014 will feature the legendary Gottmik, Vico Ortiz of <em><em>Our Flag Means Death <\/em><\/em>fame, and the show\u2019s co-creator\/EP Damian Pelliccione.<\/p>\n<p>The guest judges list is absolutely stacked, too. In addition to Ms. Oddly and Ms. Minj, it includes <em><em>Milk<\/em><\/em> screenwriter Dustin Lance Black; multiple season 1 contestants like Henlo Bullfrog and King Perk; and Laith Ashley, whom many might recognize as a trans actor who <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.them.us\/story\/laith-ashley-taylor-swift-lavender-haze\" target=\"_self\"><u>played Taylor Swift\u2019s lover<\/u><\/a> in the \u201cLavender Haze\u201d music video.
