NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It’s down to the wire for those who have procrastinated in their search for the perfect Halloween costume.
CBS2’s Thalia Perez spoke with people Friday outside Spirit Halloween on 86th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. They said the line was down the street the night before.
Customers, who really got into the holiday spirit, said they were excited to be out shopping, even if it meant standing in line.
Video captured the scene Thursday outside a Party City near the Barclays Center, where customers patiently waited in line on the street. Many also may have been waiting because of the limited number of people allowed inside at a time.
So what are the best sellers this year? A store owner Perez spoke with from Havin a Party said they are traditional ones, like Captain America, Boba Fett, Superman, and pumpkins for kids.
“Many people wait until the last second. We’re sold out of a lot of items. We have a lot of items too. So if you’re really not that picky, there will be something for you,” said Havin a Party owner Marc Davis.

During the last minute dash, Perez spoke with a mother of three who said her youngest son is still deciding what he wants to dress up as.
“We’ll make it,” said Larissa Anderson. “I usually make their costumes.”
“You don’t get nervous waiting until the last minute?” Perez asked.
“No, no, I love it. I love the pressure,” Anderson replied.
Many shops are staying open throughout the weekend and on Halloween.

If you can’t make it to a store, you might find something lingering in your closet that you can turn into a costume and won’t be left out.
