Brace yourself for Bushtucker trials, witchetty grubs, kangaroo genitalia and candid confessions as I‘m A Celebrity…Get Met Out Of Here is back for another series.
The ITV reality show, now in its 24th season, has become an autumnal institution and helming it as always will be television hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
This year the crew are returning to Springbrook National Park in Murwillumbah, New South Wales in Australia to film the series with ten tenacious celebrities ready to face whatever the jungle has to offer.
We take a look at which famous faces will be fighting for survival among the foliage this year and how to keep up to date with events in the jungle.
When does I’m a Celebrity 2024 start?
I’m A Celebrity launches on ITV, STV and ITVX at 9pm on Sunday 17 November and is likely to run for three weeks, a s in previous years.
It means a new king or queen of the jungle could be crowned in the final episode on Sunday 8 December, replacing 2023’s king reality TV star Sam Thompson.
ITV has confirmed the show will air every evening over the course of the series, so viewers are kept informed of what’s happening at the camp.
This year the companion show I’m A Celebrity…Unpacked will be hosted by former contestants Joel Dommett and Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers.
Who is in the I’m a Celebrity 2024 line-up?
The rumour mill has ground to a halt and the news is out, the names of the 10 celebrities heading for the jungle for this year’s I‘m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here have been revealed.
We take a look at the clutch of campmates braving it for the sake of entertainment:
Coleen Rooney
Coleen Rooney is the wife of former England and Man Utd footballer Wayne.
She said after years of being asked to join various reality shows, she has finally said yes to her favourite.
She said: “Over the years, there have been different things going on in my life and also, my children have been really young.
“But they are at an age now where I can go away for this length of time.
“I also feel it’s time to have a challenge for me and do something different.
“It has taken many, many years but I’m finally doing it.
“And I have always said if I was going to do one – then it would be this show.”
Aside from family and friends, the things she said she will miss the most are here phone and a notepad and pen.
The mother-of-four has been a magazine columnist for Closer and OK! and had her own series for ITV called Coleen’s Real Women.
In 2022, the 38-year-old won the high-profile “Wagatha Christie” libel case filed against her by fellow footballer’s wife Rebekah Vardy.
Danny Jones
Danny Jones is one of the lead vocalists and guitarist for the pop band McFly.
He’s hoping to bring some joy to life in the jungle.
He said: “I’m just going to bring some laughter hopefully.
“That’s what I would like.
“My grandad says, ‘A day’s worthwhile, when you make someone smile.’
“I’ve taken that on and gone, ‘Well, I want to make people laugh.’”
The 38-year-old recently won the fifth series of The Masked Singer dressed as a “Piranha”.
And he has been sharing coaching and judging duties with bandmate Tom Fletcher on The Voice UK.
Oti Mabuse
Oti Mabuse is most famous for her seven years on Strictly Come Dancing as a professional dancer, where she won twice with partners Kevin Fletcher and Bill Bailey.
She left the BBC show in 2022 becoming a judge on Dancing on Ice.
The 34-year-old has also been a dance captain on The Greatest Dancer and a panellist on The Masked Dancer.
Speaking about her decision to join I’m A Celebrity, she said: “Now I have had my baby daughter, I want to get back to the adventurous and fun Oti.
“I feel ready for a change and doing something completely different.
“I will have no make-up, concealer, lashes – it’s going to be nice to be laid back.”
She announced the arrival of her baby daughter on Christmas Day 2023.
Jane Moore
Jane Moore is a journalist, writer and presenter who is best known as a columnist for The Sun.
She is hoping to dispel misconceptions about journalists and believes she will be the mother figure in the group.
She said: “Journalists as a whole can sometimes be misunderstood and so I am hoping to have a good conversation about that.
“I have been on this planet a long time and I will be the person who will try to help them out.”
The 62-year-old has been a regular panellist and anchor for the ITV show Loose Women since 1999, with a break between 2002 to 2013.
The mother-of-three has also been a reporter for the Channel 4 investigative current affairs programme Dispatches.
Melvin Odoom
Melvin Odoom is a radio DJ and television presenter.
He has presented Kiss FM’s breakfast show with Rickie Haywood-Williams and Charlie Hedges and then the weekly late night show on Radio 1.
His biggest fear about joining I’m A celebrity is his snoring.
He said: “Snoring is my biggest fear.
“I have been trying to train myself, as messing with people’s sleep is a big deal.
“I might be the camp’s enemy if my snoring comes out. It’s loud!”
The 44-year-old is a former contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and a host of the Channel 4 show Lego Masters.
Barry McGuigan
Barry McGuigan is a former professional boxer, nicknamed The Clones Cyclone and boxing promoter from Ireland.
He said: “It can be physically arduous, but it’s the psychological part of it that I want to conquer before I get too old.
“I’m 63 now. I’d like to think I’m a young 63, but that doesn’t mean it’ll make
any of these challenges easy.
“I’d rather do it when I’m 63, than 73, put it that way.”
His children did give him some advice about managing life in the camp.
“They also said, ‘Don’t pick your ears or pick your nose! And try not to use bad language’”, he added.
The 63-year-old held the WBA and lineal featherweight titles from 1985 to 1986 and was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1985.
The father-of-four founded and remains president of the Professional Boxing Association.
Tulisa
Tulisa Contostavlos is a singer/songwriter, rapper, television presenter and actress.
She rose to fame with her cousin Dappy as part of the R&B/hip hop group N-Dubz.
Speaking about her decision to go into the jungle, she said conquering her fears was among the reasons.
She said: “I am like Frodo Baggins on an unexpected journey.
“I feel really adventurous this year and the place I am now in, I want to do things that
take me out of my comfort zone.
“I have always said I wouldn’t do this show in the past, as there are things that have terrified me.
“But the person I am now, I want to throw caution to the wind.”
The 36-year-old has been a judge on The X Factor UK and appeared in the film Big Fat Gypsy Gangster.
Dean McCullough
Dean McCullough is a radio presenter from Northern Ireland.
The 32-year-old started his career on Gaydio and began presenting on Radio 1 in 2021 hosting the mid-morning slot on Radio 1 from Fridays to Sundays.
He currently co-hosts Radio 1’s afternoon show with Vicky Hawkesworth.
After admitting he is “terrified of everything”, he said he sees his time in the jungle as a form of therapy.
He said: “I will give everything a go.
“I want to try and get some stars for everyone.
“I have travelled the world, I have backpacked, taught in orphanages and I have gone through the mill several times.
“But I am 32 now and it’s time to start a new chapter and learn a bit more about who I am.
“A three week therapy session is the perfect way to describe this!”
Alan Halsall
Alan Halsall is an actor, who appears as Tyrone Dobbs on the long-running soap Coronation Street.
The 42-year-old has been playing the character on the show since 1998.
The actor has joked his appearance on I’m A Celebrity is the ‘worst kept secret’ after he was forced to pull out last year to have major knee surgery.
He is hoping to be the joker in the camp.
He said: “For such a small person, I have got a big personality and I can be quite jokey!
“I am hoping people will share my sense of humour.”
GK Barry
GK Barry, real name Grace Eleanor Keeling, is a social influencer and podcaster.
She hosts the podcast Saving Grace, interviewing celebrities.
The 25-year-old has also been a guest panellist on the ITV show Loose Women.
Barry says she can’t wait to meet Ant and Dec but is terrified about the Bushtucker trials.
“I haven’t slept in a month”, she said, “I am scared of the trials and I am genuinely scared of everything.
“The eating trial to me is the worst thing you can do to a human being.
“You also don’t know who you are going to click with either but hopefully after the first week, I will settle in nicely.”
