JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson leaders are working to reopen Thalia Mara Hall, but they’ve run into another setback.
Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba announced on Monday that Angie Ladner resigned from her position as manager of Thalia Mara Hall.
Earlier this month, the Department of Human and Cultural Services director sent a letter to Ladner with the notice of intent to terminate her employment. The letter stated that as of November 8, Ladner exceeded the three-day absence without notification policy.
Lumumba did not say whether her termination would slow the timeline of reopening Thalia Mara Hall. The facility closed in August 2024 after mold was discovered. Remediation work is still underway, but the chillers have not been installed.
“We are aware of Ms. Angie Ladner’s resignation, who was the manager at Thalia Mara Hall. We are accepting her resignation. It was effective November 15. As always, I don’t discuss personnel issues, so I won’t say anything in greater detail about that. But I will say that the repairs that Thalia Mara Hall continue to go as scheduled,” the mayor said.
Lumumba said the city is working with the Jackson Fire Department (JFD) to make sure they don’t run into any issues during the remediation phase.
