The first trailer for the new star studded action film The Retirement Plan starring Nicolas Cage dropped on Thursday.
The actor takes on the role of an absent father Matt who is sought out by his daughter Ashley (Ashley Greene) and granddaughter Sarah (Thalia Campbell) for help when they end up caught in the middle of a criminal enterprise.
Yet disaster strikes when the group are found by crime boss Donnie (Jackie Earle Haley) and his lieutenant Bobo (Ron Perlman) while Matt’s murky past also begins to catch up with him.
The trailer begins with a worse for wear Matt shocked to see Sarah arrive unannounced as he is living the life of a retired beach bum in the Cayman Islands.
As Sarah warns him that she thinks her parents are ‘in trouble’, he responds: ‘Oh Ashley is in trouble, what is it this time?’
The clip then cuts to Ashley being threatened by crime boss Donnie and Bobo.
The group seem to be in an extensive amount of trouble as the hit men keep tracking the family down until they ‘are all dead’.
However, Ashley soon learns that her dad has a secret past that she knew nothing about as he ‘keeps killing everyone’ with a number of weapons including a vodka bottle.
With Ashley musing: ‘My dad’s an assassin isn’t he?’
The clips shows Matt looking over three dead bodies floating in the water before he kills someone with a knife and another with a gun.
Director Tim Brown said: ‘I am thrilled to be working with Falling Forward and Productivity Media on the theatrical release of this film.
‘I’m super grateful to Nic and the rest of the cast, and being able to watch this film in theaters is a childhood dream come true.’
President of Falling Forward Films, Nic Cage added: ‘This film is destined to be another classic Nic Cage action-comedy.
‘We are big supporters of the theatrical experience and there is nothing better than to have the audience experience the laughter and the thrills of The Retirement Plan on the big screen.’
The movie is due to hit theaters in the U.S. from August 25.
