But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 7 part 2

With so many new songs this week, we’ve split the roundup into two smaller articles. You can find part 1 here.

Tina Karol & SadSvit – “Ми”

Tina represented Ukraine in 2006, and her newest song is a collaboration with indie-pop and post-punk artist SadSvit. He is also the mastermind behind the lyrics and composition of their latest project. The final track is melancholic and deeply meaningful. Titled “We,” it speaks about how love between people endures even when the world is falling apart. A solo of violins and guitars adds richness to the song’s structure.

The music video is shot in black and white with a highly cinematic feel, using the cyanotype technique for a striking visual effect. About the song and her collaboration, Tina said:

“SadSvit is a truly new discovery and inspiration of Ukrainian music. I want his work to be imprinted in the songwriting of Ukraine, as a special phenomenon. Our duet is like a dystopia: as long as love is alive, the planet is alive.”

Ben Cristovao & YouNotUs – “On My Way”

Ben was selected to represent the Czechia in 2021. This week, he released a catchy dance collaboration with the German duo YouNotUs. The song is all about being okay with yourself, dancing when the lights turn off, and loving yourself. Get some good vibes from their upbeat track.

S10 – “Weer Verliefd”

S10 represented the Netherlands in 2022, and this week, she returned with a pop-dance radio banger called “In Love Again.” As the title suggests, the song is about falling in love again — but from a unique perspective that blends the sweetness of new love with the anxiety of past experiences and personal insecurities. The first verse captures the overwhelming nature of the feeling: “I think I’m obsessed with you / I feel so light, look, you can blow me away / And there’s space in my chest, half of my heart was gone long ago / I wanted some space just for myself for a while.” The chorus embraces the joy of love: “And I sing na na na I’m in love again / It didn’t take much, you took me home by bike / And I sing na na na I don’t care / Now when I close my eyes, I feel freer than ever.”

However, from the second verse onward, a shift occurs, as excitement intertwines with anxiety and self-doubt: “Do you think I’m crazy, or maybe am I crazy?”; “I have no idea what the fuck I’m doing / I’ll never be okay.”; “If this is over tomorrow, it will start over.” In the end, the song beautifully captures all aspects of a new romance — the joy, the uncertainty, and the natural worries we all have to overcome.

Kalush Orchestra – “Рута”

Kalush Orchestra won Eurovision in 2022, and their newest love song is a fascinating compositional blend. It features a retro dance sound, making it feel modern, while still incorporating traditional elements — just as we love to hear from their songs. The result is a unique sound that can’t go unnoticed.

The song is called “Rue” and speaks about a special person you love, someone who becomes a true inspiration and a light guiding the way. About the song, the members of the band said:

“This song is about a special person who stands out and inspires. She blooms like rue, lifts you up, and makes the world spin. Her energy transforms everything around her, bringing light and warmth. It’s a story of sincerity, harmony, and the strength that lives within.”

Luke Black – “VOMIT”

Luke Black is here to cancel Valentine’s Day. On this occasion, Serbia’s representative from 2023 expresses his feelings about love with his newest grotesque pop-electronic track. The song speaks about fake people and the struggle of not finding someone compatible in a sea of fake love, while also expressing disgust directly. If someone has upset you lately, this is the song to send their way. A music video will be released soon.

Can Bonomo – “Kanadım Aşktan”

We also have a Turkish song in this week of love songs, from Can, who represented his country in 2012. The song speaks about longing for someone you love and wanting to bring that person back.

Titled “My Wings of Love,” the track is infused with authentic Turkish music elements and comes with a lyric video. The lyrics express the pain of loss: “You have been missing for days / I do not know what is right from what is wrong (…) It is close that I will go mad silently.”

These words capture the deep sorrow of losing a lover and the struggle to adapt to life without them.

Lindita – “Baby All I Want”

Lindita competed for Albania in 2017. This week, he features with María Parrado on a lovely song about love: the past, the present, challenges, and everything in between. The song is accompanied by a music video that highlights their musical chemistry even more. Blas Described this song as follows:

“The result of many loves and heartbreaks, an open-hearted letter that brings together the little pieces of many of us… It is a tribute to what could have been, what was and what could be. Because we always meet again, because it is never too late. It is a memory for those who never fully forgot, because if something ends badly… it is not the end.”

Magdolna Rúzsa – Tempera

Rúzsa represented Hungary in 2007, and now she is back with a long-awaited album. The song, originally by Elvis Presley and released in 1974, has been given a fresh, glamorous twist by the two artists.

Lordi – “Hellizabeth”

Why celebrate Valentine’s Day when we can already embrace Halloween? The new song from Lordi, the Finnish rock band that won Eurovision in 2006, takes us straight into a horror movie. To make the experience even spookier, they’ve also dropped a creepy music video.

The song is an authentic progressive rock track with fantastic influences from the ’80s and early ’90s. Its main character, Hellizabeth, is the ghost of a woman who was found dead in an attic, her soul never able to rest: “The house has been deserted for some time / Rats and spiders only living things cause they don’t mind / From the garden, there’s a perfect view / In the attic, from a window, she stares back at you.” About the song, Mr. Lordi explained:

“‘Hellizabeth’ is another typical LORDI song, both lyrically and musically. It’s styled in the vein of a horror film storyboard about a woman’s ghost house haunting experience. Musically, I think the main WOW moment is the weirdly progressive beginning of the song. It stems from childhood memories of trying to learn to play an instrument. It’s actually just the vocal melody of the verse being played in the style of a nine year-old, with the whole band playing the same thing in unison and nothing in between. That’s how at least my brain worked with music as a kid, before I realized ‘oh, the vocal melody is different and the stuff in the background is supposed to give it harmony and chorus!”

Ana Rucner – “Tebe ću”

Ana took part at Eurovision in 2016 for Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside Dalal, Deen, and Jala. Recently, Ana performed at a music festival in Shanghai, Shanghai Spring Gala Festival, and while she was there, she recorded her new song “You, I shall”

The song is sweet, serene, and filled with love, expressing how she is ready to share her life with her dearest one. The lyrics say: “My thoughts are with you every moment of my life / Your hand guides me through the night / Every step with you makes me complete / Every day by your side is a new leap.”

Hovig – “NA RXOSOUN PALI”

Hovig represented Cyprus in 2017, and his newest ballad, “If You Come Again,” will dig deep into your heart. The track features a variety of instruments authentic to Cyprus and Greece, and its style is both original and true to its roots. The song starts off slow but gradually builds in power and rhythm. It comes with an artistic music video filmed by the sea, creating a feeling that’s both cinematic and reminiscent of a local party.

The lyrics speak about the difficulty of being apart from a loved one, the challenges of waiting, and the hope that your significant other will return and give it one more try: “I fade away into a terrible wait / I’d give my soul for you to return / I have often dreamed of you here / Give me a twist.”

Elisa – “É A Tua Vez”

Elisa was selected to represent Portugal in 2020, the year the contest was cancelled due to the pandemic. If you’re not in the mood for love songs, here’s a ballad to mend your heart. Soft yet powerful, the song is filled with melancholy and comes with a music video that highlights its themes of loneliness, love, and loss. Titled “It’s Your Turn,” it carries a poignant reminder: “Tomorrow we’ll be completely strangers again.”

PAENDA – “Good To Myself”

PAENDA competed in Eurovision for Austria in 2019. Speaking about love, she brings us a reminder to know our worth and love ourselves. The catchy pop song complements her voice perfectly and is the ideal tune to start your day with. About the song, PAENDA said:

“Happy Self-Empowerment Day! A little reminder to always have your own back — be your best friend, biggest love and fiercest ally.”

New national final songs from Eurovision artists

As fans will attest, once you’ve got the Eurovision bug it’s hard to let go. So it’s no wonder that every year some past participants of the contest want to have another chance at representing their country.

Here are the new songs from such artists released this week that have been entered into a national selection for Eurovision 2025.

Achille Lauro – “Incoscienti Giovani” (Festival di Sanremo)

Achille Lauro, who represented San Marino in Eurovision 2022, is well known for his eccentric and theatrical performances at Sanremo. However, this year, he surprises everyone with pure elegance — delivering a heartfelt ballad titled “Reckless Youth.”

The song explores the intense emotions of love and the impulsive decisions that come with youth. Achille paints a poetic picture of recklessness and longing: “Damn young people (smoking in that bar) / We who fall apart young (the two of us full of trouble).”

The lyrics deepen the theme of loneliness and the careless nature of youth, comparing love to a dangerous gamble: “We, two orphans at roulette / We are in Las Vegas under a LED / My love, truly / If you don’t love me, I die young / I’ll call you from a truck stop / Forever we, unconscious young people / Inconsiderate young people.”

The music video, shot in black and white, is a stunning tribute to Rome and classic Italian cinema. Inspired by Fellini’s La Dolce Vita (1960), it even features a scene filmed at the iconic Fontana di Trevi — adding a touch of timeless romance to the song’s melancholic beauty.

Francesco Gabbani – “Viva la Vita” (Festival di Sanremo)

Francesco represented Italy in Eurovision 2017. While he is known for his joyful, upbeat songs, this time he presents a heartfelt ballad — one that still carries an optimistic twist. “Long Live Life” is an ode to embracing life just as it is.

In the music video, Francesco sits alone in a cinema, watching scenes from his own life — a reflective journey through memories. The song’s chorus celebrates the beauty of existence: “Long live life as it is / Long live life, this life that / Is just a moment / A long moment.”

Beyond simply appreciating life, the lyrics emphasise the importance of companionship and shared experiences: “Taking turns / Helping each other / Consuming each other in the wind / Looking alike / Skin and bones / Same fire inside / Together, two paralyses will make movement / Together, two romantics at the gates of hell.”

Massimo Ranieri – “Tra le mani un cuore” (Festival di Sanremo)

Massimo Ranieri took part in Eurovision twice, first in 1971 and then again in 1973. His latest song, “A Heart in My Hands,” is a heartfelt ballad about love and the responsibility that comes with it. It speaks of entrusting your heart to someone and taking theirs in return, with the duty to care for and protect it. The song perfectly suits Ranieri’s voice, as he pours raw emotion into every note.

The lyrics express how comforting it is to be loved, even when life presents challenges: “The whole life with the heart at sea / The world has already torn it to pieces and yet it remains there (in your hands) / Protect it from the cold that has been there / And it will find peace after what it has been through.”

But love is a two-way street: “And I will save your heart at the bottom of the sea / Life has broken it and it continues to love / I will protect you from what has been / And you will find peace after what you have been through.”

Francesca Michielin – “Fango in Paradiso” (Festival di Sanremo)

Francesca competed for Italy in Eurovision 2016. Back at Festival di Sanremo, she is competing with “Mud in Paradise,” a breakup ballad that poetically reflects on how some relationships aren’t meant to last. The music video portrays both sides of love and how a single moment can change the entire course of a relationship.

The lyrics read like a breakup letter — words you rehearse before saying them out loud: “The ceiling is gone / Who knows who you’ll have a child with / If you’ll change address / If there’s mud in paradise / But I don’t know / Planning a goodbye locked in the car / Almost no poetry, just practice / I’m sorry though / Sometimes it happens / To love each other forever / Or never again.”

The song closes with a verse that feels like a little P.S. in the outro: “There’s no ceiling anymore / Who knows if I’ll see you around / If you’ve lost, if I’ve won / If there’s mud in Paradise.”

Which of these new songs is your favourite?
