\n\tThough 2024 will forever be earmarked as the year Kendrick Lamar outdueled Drake in their contentious heavyweight bout for rap supremacy, many storylines existed beyond the feud, including the rise of budding stars in not only hip-hop but also R&B and African music.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen we compiled our 2024 Artists to Watch list, the lingering question of \u201cWho\u2019ll live up to the hype?\u201d permeated throughout the year. Many artists, including Tyla, Cash Cobain, 4 Batz, Naomi Sharon, Hunxho, and more, broke through the proverbial ceiling.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor Tyla, the South African pop star revved past her 2023 win \u201cWater\u201d and sculpted an indelible debut album in \u201924, proving that she\u2019s hardly just content with her one breakout hit. With high-powered songs like \u201cJump\u201d and \u201cPush 2 Start\u201d \u2014 the latter recently receiving the remix treatment courtesy of Sean Paul \u2014 she\u2019s proving why she\u2019s more than capable of becoming a mainstay artist.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe same can be argued for Cash Cobain. The rising New York polymath quashed doubts to become the captain of the rising sexy drill movement. With a fistful of co-signs, ranging from Drake to J. Cole, Cobain carved out anthems like \u201cFisherr (Remix)\u201d and \u201cProblem\u201d that reverberated beyond the jungle of New York City.<\/p>\n
