Since then, Eurovision fans have had the chance to see him return to Festival di Sanremo as a solo artist. Il Tre is also a familiar name for those who follow Sanremo. Together, they have created a deeply emotional song that naturally incorporates rap, accompanied by an artistic black-and-white music video.

The song, “Before Tomorrow,” speaks about life’s hardships, feelings of hopelessness, and the importance of every step forward: “I’m always sleepy, I’m tired, and I’m not even hungry/ And every weight on your shoulders is just another exam/ The point is, I still haven’t understood who I am/ Because I ask God, and another man answers me.” Adding to its emotional depth, the song includes a poignant line that makes us reflect on those struggling in our lives—those who could truly use a hug: “I wish you’d hug me before tomorrow… /Before tomorrow.”

ALEKSEEV & SWOIIA – “Обнуляю”

ALEKSEEV competed for Belarus in 2018. SWOIIA explains that the skin carries a history, but one can “reset” it and start anew. ALEKSEEV adds that the track speaks about letting go of the past when it no longer holds significance, focusing only on those who are present in the moment. The chorus says: “I reset everything that was injected/ All my dreams came true with you in reality/ The metropolis has millions of people/ We could know just by looking— Such dear eyes.”

About their new songs, the artists said:

“There are meetings after which nothing matters anymore. The track, “Traces,” is accompanied by a striking music video that uses only light in the darkness to create a powerful effect. When discussing the lyrics, the band provided a clear and thoughtful explanation:

“The song is about the fleeting nature of life and the traces we leave in the hearts of others. About the inevitability of goodbyes and, at the same time, the light that never fades, even in the darkest moments. We are all searching for our path, a place where the soul finds peace, birds aren’t afraid of thunder, and people aren’t afraid of themselves. But as long as we are here and our hearts are beating, we must shine, embrace, and feel. Because the most precious thing is the moments lived truly and the love that remains even when we are gone.”

Luca Hänni – “Love Is A Lie”

Luca represented Switzerland in Eurovision 2019 and has undoubtedly become an icon in pop music. His latest release is no exception. Without even mentioning the spectacular music video—where Luca finds himself in an abandoned place that perfectly matches the lyrics—the song itself carries a deep and emotional message.

Rather than stemming from personal heartbreak, the song explores the perspective of a young boy who grows up believing that love is a lie. This belief doesn’t come from his own experiences but from witnessing his parents’ dysfunctional relationship. Though they try to pretend everything is fine, he hears their arguments late at night after retreating to his room. Their constant conflicts and unresolved issues ultimately lead him to lose trust in love itself.

Doctor Prats feat. Join Us.” The song is for the outcasts—the ones considered different—but in reality, it’s this uniqueness that makes them special. The chaos of imperfections is the central theme of the song, with the lyrics: “Creatures of chaos/ That’s how they made us/ We are contagious/ The future’s afraid of us.”

Madame Monsieur – “Cinéma”

Madame Monsieur, who represented France in Eurovision 2018, are back with their first track as indie artists—a very special duet for them. The song brings an uplifting, nostalgic, and romantic vibe, with the two of them harmonising beautifully as they sing about a love that transforms every moment into a movie scene, a love that remains intact as long as it is well cherished.

In other words, the song is about their love, with the story unfolding in Paris on a rainy day, just like in the movies. Two lovers make a promise of love: “Linger all night in your eyes/ Don’t give a damn, life is wonderful/ In the rain but like at the movies/ Promise me that nothing will change.” As long as they’re together, everything around them seems to be washed away by the rain. About their new track, the duo said:

“‘CINEMA’ is our ode to early love, those first moments when everything is too much, everything is crazy, everything takes on the appearance of a movie scene. The track is a powerful banger where Samra doesn’t hold back—she’s on fire and knows it, shining brightly and unapologetically. The song speaks about having no competitors, being the best, and, even more, about making everyone around you melt like ice cream when they see you.

Konstrakta – SKUP SLOVA

Konstrakta made Serbia proud in 2022. As always, she brings originality and her unique avant-pop and art-pop style, this time alongside her indie band, Zemlja Gruva. This week, she is releasing not one but four new singles, all woven together into a short film titled Collection of Letters. The idea for the songs and the writing process began back in 2023, inspired by the moment when ChatGPT became available in Serbia. However, no artificial intelligence was used in crafting these songs. The four singles are: “Šta će meni ko” (Why Do I Need Anyone), “Lorem Ipsum,” “Muve” (Flies), and “Zauvek, sine” (Forever, Son).

The lyrics offer a deep reflection on current social issues. Konstrakta sings: “A man is no longer what he was/ And eternity is no longer what it was, my son,” leaving behind a letter filled with concerns for the next generation. The central theme of the songs explores the relationship between humans and technology, highlighting how it leads to personal struggles and impersonal relationships. The short film portrays a transition from the digital world to the natural one. Filmed in the Serbian village of Glibovac, the music video presents a contrast between reality and a digitised world. Konstrakta herself undergoes a transformation—from a real to a digital character and back—ultimately escaping the trap of digitalisation and remaining her authentic self.

Kasia Kowalska & sanah – “Kiedy umrę kochanie (H. Kasia, who represented Poland in Eurovision back in 1996, joins forces this week with the young Polish artist sanah. Her indie-pop track, “When I Die, My Love,” is based on the lyrics of the renowned Polish poet Halina Poświatowska.

The lyrics draw a comparison between death and burning love letters in a stove, watching them turn to ashes. The chorus expresses a longing to reunite with a loved one in the afterlife: “When I die, my love, I will part with the sun. I will be an old, rather sad object. Will you then take me in? Will you embrace me and repair what cruel fate has ruined?”

Silia Kapsis – “What’s Your Name Again”

Silia is not wasting time on anyone, and she makes that loud and clear. Last year’s Eurovision representative for Cyprus is back with a bop—full of energy, attitude, and pure confidence. She’s fierce, she’s unstoppable, and she’s not looking back. The lyrics focus on staying committed to your own journey and refusing to waste time on toxic people who don’t even deserve to have their names remembered.

LUM!X – “Illusion”

LUM!X is bringing the club vibes in his new song, proving that he’s not only an outstanding DJ and producer but also a great singer. Their latest pop track dives into the pressures of life and the struggle to ease them while working on self-improvement. “So far, so good/ I try to undo/ The mess that I’m becoming/ This pressure is alarming.” Yes, as the lyrics say, life can be “so f*ckin’ exhausting” at times—but there’s always hope to keep pushing forward!

Pasha Parfeni – “Nu Aiuri”

Pasha Parfeni represented Moldova twice, first in 2012 and then again in 2023. His new song, “Don’t Talk Nonsense,” is a story that Pasha himself describes as “filled with irony, style, and… a little bit of madness.” The lyrics are bold and packed with subtext, exploring the theme of narcissism in the main character and his desire to escape normality. The song is playful and makes you reflect on how many times you’ve gotten lost in your own fantasies.

The lyrics tell the story of falling in love with a girl at McDonald’s while she was eating fries with ice cream. The main character is confident that he can win her over no matter what, and he pursues her with lyrics like, “Don’t talk nonsense/ You have no reason, not even approximately (…) You know too well that by tomorrow/ You will still call me.” The music video takes you on a fantastical journey, with the ultimate goal being to get the girl to become his wife. However, the ending has a twist—a narcissistic one, but still a twist.

Emmelie de Forest – “Heartache Avenue”

Emmelie de Forest won Eurovision for Denmark in 2013. However, she and her bandmates had already stood on the Eurovision stage in 2019 as backing vocalists for John Lundvik.

Recently, Loulou has been focusing on her solo projects, and this week, she delivers an enchanting country song that captures the joy of feeling at home—not necessarily in a specific place, but in the presence of the right person. This song is a remake of one she previously released. Originally written in Swedish, she always dreamed of an English version. While the lyrics were translated to preserve the essence of the original, she also gave this version a fresh new sound. Petra Kvist adds addictive violin melodies. Loulou has a deep love for country music, confessing that almost every lyric she’s ever written started as a country song.

Lukas Mejer – “Broken Memories”

Lukas Meijer, who competed for Poland in Eurovision 2018 alongside DJ Gromee, returns with a heartfelt ballad that will touch your soul. With his new project, he has been releasing music in both Moldova and Estonia, and his latest track is yet another collaboration with Bacho.

The duo attempted to compete in this year’s Moldovan national selection with Bacho and their song “Semafoare” (Traffic Lights), which was a fan favourite before Moldova ultimately decided not to participate at Eurovision 2024 in Basel. “Semafoare” was the second instalment of their collaborative project, creating a short film-like narrative through its music video. This week’s song, titled “You You You” in English, serves as the third chapter in that story.

The lyrics paint a picture of a girl who embodies summer, leaving a lasting impression even as the seasons change: “You, you, you, you are the summer vibe/ I don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t want it to disappear/ And everything, everything, everything, everything around me/ Someday will remind me of the summer vibe.”

Hooverphonic & Barbara Dex

The beloved Belgian cover show Liefde voor Muziek is back with its 11th edition, and this time, among the former Eurovision participants, we have Hooverphonic (who were initially selected to compete in 2020 when the contest was cancelled, but returned to Eurovision the following year in 2021) and Barbara Dex (who competed in 1993). This week, the contestants covered MAKSIM’s song, a singer from Antwerp who is also taking part in the show.

Hooverphonic took MAKSIM’s pop ballad “Zonder Mij,” originally released in 2022. The band transformed the Dutch song into English, adding their unique dreamy trip-hop vibe to the mix. To highlight the song’s emotional depth even further, they included a jazzy saxophone solo, while Geike Arnaert’s voice crowns the song with her distinct sound. The lyrics explore the denial and emotional turmoil following a breakup, with references to counting the days, sleepless nights, and the illusion of hearing that person’s laugh. All of these emotions are packed together in a chorus that perfectly expresses the confession of someone left behind: “I see your eyes shining from afar / Realize again just where you are / Everything goes silent, your voice remains. / Without seeing me, you walked on by / So beautiful, it seemed a lie / Only thing that’s left is your red scarf / Now clouds surround me.”

Barbara Dex chose “Ik wil dat je liegt” (I want you to lie), a song originally released by MAKSIM and Hannah Mae in 2024.
