While mostly known as an actor, Billy Bob Thornton has been playing in a band for nearly 20 years and used that musical expertise on \u201cLandman.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The Fort Worth-filmed show spent much of the spring and summer<\/a> filming season 2 in and around North Texas. Sam Elliott joins the cast<\/a> for the second season, which returns to Paramount+ on Nov. 16.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ahead of the series\u2019 return, Paramount and MCA released a new album of curated music inspired by the show\u2019s first season: \u201cLandman \u2014 Songs From and Inspired by the Paramount+ Original Series (Volume I).\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The album features songs from many famous names in the country music world, including George Strait, Chris Stapleton, Dwight Yoakum and Ronnie Dunn. This is where Thornton comes in, as Entertainment Weekly<\/a> revealed<\/a> that he and Mark Collie, who plays Sheriff Walt Joeberg on the show, contributed to the soundtrack.<\/p>\n

Billy Bob Thornton writes songs for \u2018Landman\u2019 soundtrack<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

In total, Thornton and Collie worked on five of the album\u2019s 15 songs.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The duo co-wrote \u201cLivin\u2019 It Up in Texas\u201d with Billy Gibbons, \u201cShe\u2019ll Dance for Whiskey\u201d with Parker McCollum, \u201cThat\u2019s What Lonely People Do\u201d with Yoakum and \u201cBlood for Black Gold\u201d with Dunn, according to Entertainment Weekly. Thornton also plays the drums on the Dunn track.<\/p>\n

Thornton and Collie are also credited as the only songwriters on \u201cMidland After Midnight,\u201d from Lubbock band Flatland Cavalry<\/a>. Here\u2019s a look at the full soundtrack:<\/p>\n
