Muitos dos melhores programas desta lista vieram de outros lugares. E uma percentagem superior ao habitual foi vista no Teatro Ahmanson, que teve um ano notavelmente bom \u2013 talvez o melhor de qualquer teatro local.<\/p>\n<p>Foi t\u00e3o bom, na verdade, que deixei de lado o renascimento de Michael Arden <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-05-27\/michael-arden-director-broadway-maybe-happy-endings\">&#8220;Parada.&#8221;<\/a> Minha autoconsci\u00eancia sobre o grande n\u00famero de produ\u00e7\u00f5es em turn\u00ea me convenceu a n\u00e3o incluir <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-08-22\/shucked-hollywood-pantages-theater-review-musical\">\u201cDescascado\u201d no Hollywood Pantages,<\/a> que iluminou o ver\u00e3o com sua alegria caipira. E uma das melhores noites musicais que tive durante todo o ano foi cortesia de uma vers\u00e3o de concerto da revivifica\u00e7\u00e3o de Folksbiene do National Yiddish Theatre de <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-09-15\/fiddler-on-roofa-yiddish-soraya-northridge-sholem-aleichem-stories\">\u201cO Violinista no Telhado\u201d <\/a>em i\u00eddiche no Soraya. <\/p>\n<p>\u00c9 claro que LA chamou a aten\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo do teatro neste ver\u00e3o, quando Cynthia Erivo foi a atra\u00e7\u00e3o principal do renascimento do Hollywood Bowl de <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-08-04\/jesus-christ-superstar-review-hollywood-bowl-cynthia-erivo\">\u201cJesus Cristo Superstar,\u201d <\/a>uma produ\u00e7\u00e3o que parecia tomar conta do Instagram com a for\u00e7a esmagadora da campanha do filme Wicked.\u201d Mas minha escolha para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o do ano em Los Angeles seria o renascimento de Jessica Kubzansky de <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-09-24\/theater-reviews-tennessee-williams-night-iguana-boston-court-fly-me-sun-fountain-adolescent-salvation-rogue-machine\">\u201cA Noite da Iguana.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Kubzansky demonstrou atrav\u00e9s de exemplos o que \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio. Ela e Tennessee Williams formaram uma excelente combina\u00e7\u00e3o. Mas n\u00e3o se trata apenas de juntar o diretor certo ao autor certo. Trata-se tamb\u00e9m de criar uma companhia art\u00edstica bem sincronizada. <\/p>\n<p>Muitas produ\u00e7\u00f5es produzidas localmente (especialmente em nossos teatros maiores) parecem deixar de fora um desses elementos. A julgar pelos resultados, o processo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o parece mais descendente do que org\u00e2nico. Algumas vezes este ano, nos cinemas maiores, parecia que o elenco principal era uma reflex\u00e3o tardia. <\/p>\n<p>As coprodu\u00e7\u00f5es podem ser uma forma inteligente de reunir recursos e ao mesmo tempo distribuir o risco. Mas nem sempre s\u00e3o a resposta, como prova o fraco renascimento do <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-02-10\/review-the-geffen-playhouse-shows-why-noises-off-michael-frayns-backstage-farce-is-a-modern-classic\">\u201cRu\u00eddos desligados\u201d<\/a> no Geffen Playhouse, uma coprodu\u00e7\u00e3o com a Steppenwolf Theatre Company de Chicago, <\/p>\n<p>O melhor novo trabalho dram\u00e1tico que vi em qualquer lugar este ano foi o de Branden Jacobs-Jenkins <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-06-03\/tony-awards-best-play-cole-escola-oh-mary-branden-jacobs-jenkins-purpose\">&#8220;Prop\u00f3sito,&#8221;<\/a> que merecidamente ganhou o Pr\u00eamio Pulitzer de drama e o Tony Award de melhor pe\u00e7a. La Jolla Playhouse anunciou que produzir\u00e1 a estreia na Costa Oeste no pr\u00f3ximo ano. N\u00e3o vou prender a respira\u00e7\u00e3o por uma produ\u00e7\u00e3o de Los Angeles. As pe\u00e7as que vi em Nova York e que merecem grandes produ\u00e7\u00f5es em Los Angeles incluem \u201cLiberation\u201d de Bess Wohl, \u201cLiberation\u201d de Kimberly Belflower <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-05-21\/kimberly-belflower-playwright-danya-taymor-director-john-proctor-is-the-villain-crucible\">\u201cJohn Proctor \u00e9 o vil\u00e3o\u201d,<\/a> \u201cLittle Bear Ridge Road\u201d de Samuel D. Hunter e, se alguma empresa for ousada o suficiente, \u201cPrince Faggot\u201d de Jordan Tannahill.<\/p>\n<p>Ainda estou pensando na atua\u00e7\u00e3o a todo vapor de Toni Servillo em \u201cTre modi per non morire: Baudelaire, Dante, i Greci\u201d, adaptado de obras de Giuseppe Montesano. Este espet\u00e1culo individual, que assisti no Piccolo Teatro de Mil\u00e3o, ofereceu uma defesa apaixonada de como a grande literatura pode nos ensinar a viver novamente.<\/p>\n<p>O teatro pode e deve ser um santu\u00e1rio da tecnologia que est\u00e1 invadindo aquilo que nos distingue como seres humanos \u2013 a nossa capacidade de contemplar a n\u00f3s mesmos e aos outros com sentimento.<\/p>\n<p>2025 definitivamente teve seus pontos altos. Mas parece haver um enfraquecimento da determina\u00e7\u00e3o institucional face \u00e0s implac\u00e1veis \u200b\u200bpress\u00f5es econ\u00f3micas, pol\u00edticas e culturais.
