Taylor Sheridan<\/a> will remember the Alamo for a new museum in San Antonio.<\/p>\n

The Fort Worth-raised filmmaker is making a film about the Battle of the Alamo for the new Alamo Visitor Center and Museum<\/a> in the South Texas city. The nearly 160,000-square-foot facility will feature event spaces, a cafe, a rooftop terrace, a gift shop and a 4D theater.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the 4D theater where Sheridan comes into play, according to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce I saw the plan for the theater, I knew there was only one screenwriter, film producer, and director in the world to make this film for the Alamo Museum \u2013 Taylor Sheridan,\u201d Patrick said in a statement on Tuesday, April 7. \u201cOver the last decade, Taylor has told the story of the American west \u2013 the people, the land, the depth, and the history \u2013 in a way no other filmmaker has. In addition to his amazing film portfolio, Taylor is a native Texan who knows and loves our state and its history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor Sheridan to create Alamo film<\/h2>\n

Patrick said he contacted Sheridan about the historic project, and \u201cdespite his incredible schedule,\u201d was met with an enthusiastic yes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Alamo is the very bedrock Texas was founded upon. To chronicle the sacrifice made by the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives defending the Alamo is an honor I eagerly accept,\u201d Sheridan said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Patrick continued that this is an amazing gift from Sheridan and \u201ca big win for Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Originally, the museum was expected to open in late 2027. However, the San Antonio Express-News reported<\/a> in February that the opening had been pushed to spring 2028.<\/p>\n

No casting or production information has been released for the new project. But there is already an Alamo connection to a current Sheridan project: \u201cLandman\u201d star Billy Bob Thornton<\/a> previously starred as Davy Crockett<\/a> in John Lee Hancock\u2019s 2004 feature film \u201cThe Alamo.\u201d<\/p>\n
