Following a game against the Guardians last April, some of the Royals players went to see a Shane Gillis show in Cleveland.<\/p>\n

The comedian was playing at Rocket Arena, which is adjacent to Progressive Field, so the Royals didn\u2019t have far to travel. After the show, Gillis met with the Royals, and first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino made quite the impression.<\/p>\n

During a recent episode<\/a> of his Matt and Shane\u2019s Secret Podcast, Gillis recalled that night.<\/p>\n

[–><\/p>\n

\u201cA couple of guys from the Royals came to the show,\u201d Gillis said, \u201cand then most of the guys were like,\u2019 Yeah, we gotta dip out. We\u2019ve got a game tomorrow.\u2019 Not the Pasquatch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Comedian Dan Soder picked up the story.<\/p>\n

\u201cBobby Witt Jr. and all the Royals were like, \u2018All right, we\u2019re going back. We\u2019ve got to play tomorrow, during the day.\u2019 Then Pasquatch looks down,\u201d Soder said. \u201cHe goes, \u2018You guys going out? He goes, \u2018(Forget) it, I\u2019m DHing, I\u2019ll go out with you guys.\u2019 And then right as he said that, Shane goes, \u2018Hundred dollars, you\u2019re gonna hit a home run.\u2019 And Vinnie was like, \u2018Book it.\u2019 And then we went out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group decided to go to a casino and on the way, Pasquantino had second thoughts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe get to a red light, and you can see the Pasquatch was thinking to himself, I should probably get to bed,\u201d Gillis said. \u201cI gotta play the Cleveland (Guardians) tomorrow. He just gets out of the Uber at a red light. He was like, he\u2019d been silent for like 15 minutes, and before that, he was chatting a little. And then all of a sudden, you can see the wheels were turning for a while, he goes, \u2018You know what, guys? I gotta go in.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Soder said: \u201cI respected it because it was the best duck and roll I\u2019ve seen out of a car in a while.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next day, Pasquantino came up in the fourth inning and lined a 1-2 pitch from the Guardians\u2019 Luis Ortiz into the right-field stands.<\/p>\n

Soder\u2019s wife, Katie Nolan, was quite excited about Pasquantino\u2019s homer.<\/p>\n

\u201cKatie was going nuts. I told her about it, and we landed in D.C.,\u201d Soder said. \u201cShe\u2019s like, \u2018Vinnie went yard! Vinnie went yard!\u2019 It was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the game, Witt sent Gillis a photo of Pasquantino in an ice bath flashing a thumbs up.<\/p>\n
