The ceremony will honor local leaders who have helped shape Monroeville over the decades. The event is free, and the public in encouraged to attend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"neFMT neFMT_box-text\">The night\u2019s main event will be a free performance by the East Winds Symphonic Band from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A local favorite for more than 40 years, East Winds consists of nearly 70 talented musicians from across Pittsburgh\u2019s eastern suburbs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"neFMT neFMT_box-text\"><strong>July 4:<\/strong> The annual Monroeville Independence Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. from the Miracle Mile Shopping Center to the Monroeville Convention Center. Each week, Lions Club members will be on hand to collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids and to sell brooms made by the visually impaired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"neFMT neFMT_body-subhead\">Church\u2019s clothes closet open to those in need<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"neFMT neFMT_box-text\">The Presbyterian Church of Pitcairn operates a clothes closet each month, typically from 10 a.m. to noon the second and fourth Saturdays, in the former pastor\u2019s house attached to the church building, 312 Highland Ave.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"neFMT neFMT_box-text\">The clothes closet serves hundreds of people in Pitcairn each year who are in need of clothes and accessories.
