The Royals promoted right-hander Kendry Chourio to their high Class A team last month, and he\u2019s found immediate success.<\/p>\n

That includes combining on a no-hitter Sunday for Quad Cities. Chourio and Emmanuel Reyes were dominant in an 11-0 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Appleton, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

Chourio, 18, was acquired during the 2025 international signing period, and he quickly ascended to the Royals\u2019 top prospect<\/a> in Major League Baseball\u2019s rankings.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis change-up and his curveball were both good pitches with higher ceiling<\/a>,\u201d Royals senior director of pitching performance Paul Gibson told The Star\u2019s Jaylon Thompson last month. \u201cSo like any young pitcher that has the velocity that Chourio has, running through lineups with that fastball-heavy attack is going to be a natural thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baseball Pipeline noted Chourio had 18 swing-and-misses Sunday as he struck out 10<\/a> in five innings. Four of those strikeouts<\/a> came against top Brewers prospects, a MLB.com story said: Luis Pe\u00f1a (No. 2\/MLB No. 18), No. 12 Braylon Payne (fanned twice) and No. 22 Eric Bitonti.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter allowing five runs in his first High-A start on June 19 (which was also when he set his career high of 10 strikeouts),\u201d the MLB story said, \u201cChourio has rebounded nicely over his past four outings, posting an 0.90 ERA, 9.45 K\/9 while holding opposing hitters to a .347 OPS over 20 innings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reyes, 22, has made 16 starts for the Quad Cities this season, but he pitched in relief for the first time, and was sensational. Reyes retired all 12 batters he faced and got the final out for his first career save.<\/p>\n

In 17 games this season, Reyes has a 3.70 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 82 2\/3 innings pitched.<\/p>\n
