{"id":1840271,"date":"2026-07-26T00:54:43","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T00:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/pt\/?p=1840271"},"modified":"2026-07-26T00:54:43","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T00:54:43","slug":"royals-comemora-marco-de-rh-de-salvador-perez-em-detroit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/pt\/royals-comemora-marco-de-rh-de-salvador-perez-em-detroit\/","title":{"rendered":"Royals comemora marco de RH de Salvador Perez em Detroit"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\"><!--&gt;--><\/p>\n<figure \/><!-- WPS-5038 - removed the script from WPS and added the placeholder for trinity player --><!-->[&#8211;><!-- AiSummaryComponent.html --><!--]--><!--&gt;--><span class=\"dateline\">Detroit<\/span><!--&gt; CONTENT --><!--[--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>After <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/mlb\/kansas-city-royals\/article316655894.html\">Saturday\u2019s 3-2 victory<\/a> over the Detroit Tigers, the entire Kansas City Royals dugout poured onto the field.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>And they moved with a purpose.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>It was a sea of Royal Blue as the club all joined beloved catcher Salvador Perez as <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kcroyalstv\/status\/2081104247806918708\">he spoke with Royals.TV reporter Joel Goldberg<\/a> after the game.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>Perez basked in the spotlight after <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/mlb\/kansas-city-royals\/article316634987.html#storylink=mainstage_lead\">setting the franchise mark<\/a> with his 318th career home run. He passed Hall of Famer George Brett with a solo home run in the seventh inning off Tigers reliever Kyle Finnegan.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>As Perez spoke glowingly about Kansas City, the Royals contingent listened in a celebratory mood. This was their captain and his moment. It was only right that everyone wanted to be a part of his historic accomplishment.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s incredible seeing him do that in that situation, too,\u201d Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino said after the game. \u201cI thought it was really cool that the Tigers gave him a second to (celebrate). So yeah, that was pretty special. Home plate umpire (Erich Bacchus) did a great job of just kind of letting the moment breathe. Yeah, (Perez) is just fantastic, right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><!--&gt;]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>Perez has chased Brett\u2019s record all season. He began in striking distance and quickly charted his course towards history. In recent weeks, Perez has heated up at the plate and started to showcase the raw power he is known for.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Perez rounded the bases in style. As he stepped on home plate, he celebrated with Pasquantino and longtime Royals coach Miguel Garcia \u2014 who he has a <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/mlb\/kansas-city-royals\/article316657610.html\">20-year relationship<\/a> with through baseball.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>And inside the clubhouse, Perez gave a speech to his teammates. He thanked them for their support, the organization\u2019s support and the entire city as well.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a super special moment seeing that,\u201d Royals infielder Nick Loftin said. \u201cJust so happy that I was able to be a small part of it, along with his journey. You know, he deserves every bit of this moment. And you know, so happy for him and his family. And glad we were able to get a win with it too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>Perez is now the sixth player to hold the Royals\u2019 home run record. He overtook Brett, who held the title for over four decades. Brett initially passed fellow Royals Hall of Famer Amos Otis with his 194th home run on April 9, 1986.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><!--&gt;]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>After Saturday\u2019s game, Brett called to congratulate Perez. Brett also shared a special pre-recorded message that was posted on the club\u2019s social media accounts.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>Perez was all smiles in the clubhouse. He never wants to take attention away from the team, but he was ecstatic to do his job in a major way.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty good,\u201d Perez said. \u201cYou know, I always say it\u2019s better when we win the game. You feel better, and it\u2019s super exciting. And I\u2019ve said, I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d make it that far in my career. A lot of sacrifice and a lot of hard work. Thank God for the opportunity. My mom, my family and all the people in my career that helped me make it that far.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>For multiple Royals, they grew up watching all of Perez\u2019s career. Carter Jensen and Alex Lange are Kansas City natives. And others, such as Daniel Lynch IV, have only ever known Perez as their primary catcher.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><!--&gt;]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>So the moment was extra special to see their longtime leader bask in the spotlight on the biggest stage.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s treated me and everyone around here the exact same ever since I\u2019ve been here,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cIt\u2019s always been positive, and he\u2019s always been willing to help. (Just) wanting to learn, wanting to get better and just wanting to pick guys up and be their teammate. So I couldn\u2019t be happier for him. I think the team couldn\u2019t be happier for him. So just an awesome accomplishment and awesome day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>Perez is likely ticketed for the Hall of Fame after he finishes playing. The Royals are grateful that he continues to lead the way in his 15th season. And now, he has a chance to further extend the all-time home run record as his career moves forward.<\/p>\n<p><!--]-->[&#8211;><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou could see that it was something special for him,\u201d Royals starter Michael Wacha said. \u201cAnd we were all very excited for him and glad we were able to get the win today as well.
