JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson is on the right path to reopen its doors.
The facility closed in August 2024 after mold was discovered.
Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba said air quality lab results are expected soon. He said samples for mold and asbestos are being taken to make sure the facility is safe to reenter.
HVAC units are slated to be turned on Monday, while roof and plumbing repairs are expected to be completed on Thursday.
“The fire curtain was demolished and removed on Friday, this past Friday. And the rigging repairs are ongoing. Validation is planned for 1/17, which is Friday. The roof leaks and plumbing repairs started last week and are expected to be completed on Thursday of this week. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is scheduled to walk through also on Thursday of this week,” said Lumumba.
