Just one day after celebrating his 18th birthday, Mason Kramer says his life changed in an instant.
The Wisconsin teen said he suffered life-threatening injuries in a farm accident on June 18 that left him with severe leg injuries and caused him to lose about 25% of his body’s blood. Weeks later, he says he is making remarkable progress in his recovery after undergoing three surgeries totaling about 23 hours.
“As some of you may know, I was involved in a horrible and tragic farming accident on June 18th of 2026,” Kramer wrote in a Facebook post, where he shared an update on his recovery.
“I lost about 25% of my [body’s] blood which is a life threatening and even deadly amount to [lose],” he continued.
Kramer was flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital, where he underwent three surgeries and remains on what organizers described as a long road to recovery, according to the fundraiser created for him.
In interviews with local news outlets WBAY and WTMJ, Kramer said he was working at a farm in Sheboygan, Wisc., when he lost his balance while cleaning out a silo. His legs became caught in a silo unloader, leaving him with severe injuries.
“I was really concerned for my legs. And, ultimately, my life because I lost so much blood. So, it was definitely a really scary thing,” Kramer told WBAY.
Although the accident left him facing multiple surgeries, Kramer said his recovery has progressed faster than many of his medical providers expected.
“I have made a recovery that some of the Doctors, Therapists, Surgeons and Nurses have never seen,” he wrote on Facebook. “I have already walked 100 feet with assist on a walker and have transferred inside and out of a car, and went up stairs.”
Despite the severity of the accident, Kramer said he feels fortunate to have survived and to have kept both of his legs.
“I made it out alive. I still have my legs and my feet. So, it’s just a blessing how it turned out,” he told WBAY. “The Flight for Life team and then all the doctors that did my surgeries, they’re the reason why I still have my legs.”
In his Facebook post, Kramer also thanked those who have supported him throughout his recovery.
“The reason why I come on here to make this post is because all of the prayers, support and strength the community and everybody has offered,” he wrote. “If it wasn’t for EVERYBODYS prayers I wouldn’t be here making this post. God Bless each and every one of you.”

The fundraiser says donations will help cover the expenses Kramer is expected to face during his recovery in the months ahead and encourages supporters to continue keeping him in their thoughts and prayers.
Despite the challenges of his recovery, Kramer said he’s looking forward to getting back to the farm.
“If I was having a bad day I would ask if I could come into work because I love working with the cows I love working on machinery so yeah it’s really been a big part of my life working on the tractors,” he told WTMJ.
Kramer said maintaining a positive attitude has been key to his recovery.
“I could be saying to the physical therapist, ‘No, I don’t want to. I don’t want to do it today. I don’t want to do this today. I don’t. I don’t feel good today.’ But I have the positive attitude where I want to get better. I want to get back to being my 18-year-old self,” he told the outlet.
