MADISON, Wis. — A Delavan-Darien High School graduate has won the 2026 Wisconsin State Park and Forest vehicle admission pass design contest.
Jaelyn Logterman, a graduated senior from Delavan-Darien High School, was inspired by her own adventures with her dog for the design.
“Ultimately, chasing him around throughout his adventures has helped keep my feet wet throughout my childhood,” Logterman said.
The annual contest received more than 150 submissions for the 2026 pass design. The contest is open only for submissions from high school-age students who are attending Wisconsin’s public, private, parochial schools or homeschools.
“Each year the students really impress us with their creativity,” said Steve Schmelzer, parks and recreation management bureau director. “The DNR has been hosting this contest for more than 30 years, and we still see something new each time.”
The vehicle admission passes provide holders with access to more than 60 state parks, forests and recreation areas around the state. The 12-month admission passes with the new design will go on sale Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. All passes purchased for the rest of the year will have the 2025 pass design and will still be valid for a full 12 months after purchase.
The DNR is accepting entries for the 2027 12-month Wisconsin state park and forest vehicle admission pass. Entries should focus on outdoor recreation, animals or plants in Wisconsin.
Materials are available for the 2027 pass design contest, and students can submit entries through April 30, 2026.
You can find the rules, submission guidelines, design tips and previous winning designs on the DNR’s State Pass Design Contest webpage.
