A group of former Boss Fight Entertainment developers have banded together to form Sunwise Games.

Netflix acquired Boss Fight Entertainment, the US-based studio known for free-to-play mobile title Dungeon Boss, in 2022. The then-ten-year-old studio joined Netflix’s in-house development team until Netflix shut it down in October 2025 despite the success of Squid Game: Unleashed, which, according to former lead game engineer Irin Berry, “topped charts globally and reached tens of millions of players worldwide in its first months.”

Now, via a LinkedIn post, CEO and co-founder Berry announced Sunwise, calling the new venture an “independent PC game studio focused on building systems-driven games with long-term depth, clear progression, and respectful monetization.” Described as “intentionally small, senior-led, and structured for sustainability rather than rapid scale,” the team hopes to announce its first “PC-first” title soon.

“A core group of us had already built and shipped multiple complex games together, including our title that reached #1 across dozens of countries and scaled to a truly global audience. We trusted one another, understood how to collaborate at scale, and knew that kind of team cohesion is rare,” Berry wrote.

“Instead of scattering, 26 of us chose to stay together and keep building. That decision became Sunwise Games. Today, Sunwise is a team of 30 developers, including the 26 original Boss Fight team members, joined by additional talent chosen intentionally for their craft, creativity, and shared values. This is a senior team with deep experience shipping, operating, and supporting games at scale.”

The post closed by stating that Sunwise “represents the future we want to build in this industry.”
