The James Watrous Gallery on the third floor of the Overture Center, 201 State St., hosts a concurrent exhibit of colorful works by Tom Antell and Romano Johnson. Antell’s exhibition, “Democratic Vistas,” features works “full of symbolism meant to convey aspects of Native American history and culture.” “Gospel Love Heart,” Johnson’s collection of large-scale works, fills the room “with energy and power.” Visit Thursday through Sunday, 12 to 5 p.m. An artists’ reception is set for May 17. This year’s May Day will celebrate and highlight the importance of immigrants and workers’ rights with a rally and march starting at noon at UW-Madison’s Library Mall. Later in the day, Voces De La Frontera will host Freedom Rising: Voices Strong, a benefit concert with music from Gold Dust Women, Honor Among Thieves and The New Kids and spoken word poetry from Cue608 Poets. Tickets costs $20 to benefit Voces’ Legal Aid and Worker Justice Fund.

If the soothing tones of a woodsman from the northern reaches of Michigan sounds like spring, join content creator Old Time Hawkey for a meet-and-greet this weekend at the Muskellounge and Sporting Club, 4102 Monona Drive. Sponsored by Two Hearted IPA from Kalmazoo’s Bell’s Brewery, the “Catch You There” tour features a meat raffle (12-3 p.m.), trivia, euchre and an open mic. The event starts at 11 a.m. for VIPs and noon for the general public.

To beat the rush of secondhand searchers a $20 VIP wristband, available to only 50 people, gives wearers access to stalls for an hour before general admission opens. On Saturday, hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and general admission is $5. On Sunday, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free.
