Music mogul Curtis Jackson, known as 50 Cent, has quietly assembled a significant real estate portfolio in Shreveport, Louisiana, accumulating approximately 20 properties in the downtown area. These ambitious moves mark a notable shift for the area, which has faced considerable economic challenges in recent decades.

G-Unit signed a lease in early 2024 for the former Millennium Studios building, AfroTech reported. The company followed with a separate arrangement involving the StageWorks Louisiana facility. The Shreveport City Council has taken formal action to support the development. Local officials implemented a new 2% sales tax specifically earmarked for investment in the designated area, the Shreveport Times reported.
Shreveport is home to approximately 186,000 residents, with national assessments classifying the city among America’s most economically distressed areas, IBT said. The city’s current economic situation has created conditions that may favor large-scale development projects.

Among the proposed projects is Shreveport Justice, characterized as a studio audience-style show that would feature content from the local sheriff’s office, bayou patrols, and other law enforcement activities. G-Unit’s production plans include original programming tailored to the local market, the Post reported.
The StageWorks lease, which received city approval, according to KTBS-TV, includes favorable terms for Jackson’s operation. The agreement grants G-Unit a 15-year renewal option and reportedly features rental rates as low as $200 per month, the Post reported.

Jackson has also moved beyond studio development to organize cultural programming in Shreveport. He hosted Humour & Harmony, a charity weekend event that drew prominent entertainers including Dave Chappelle, Flo Rida, and 2 Chainz to the city, last year. “I promise you, I’ll overdeliver with Shreveport,” Jackson told attendees after Mayor Tom Arceneaux gave Jackson a key to the city in 2024, according to the Post.

Current projections place the start of construction as soon as year end or early 2026, according to IBT. The project’s success metrics will likely center on job creation figures, production output, and measurable revitalization within the designated district.
