1. Boo at the Zoo
Boo at the Zoo takes place at Brevard Zoo every Saturday and Sunday in October. Bring your own reusable bag for trick-or-treating. Visit brevardzoo.org.
The popular event is back at Brevard Zoo, 8225 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, every Saturday and Sunday in October from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be trick-or-treating, photo opportunities, Halloween decorations, spooktacular music, special performances and more. The event will have themed weekends as follows: Oct. 4-5, “Favorite Characters”; Oct. 11-12, “Mad Scientist”; Oct. 18-19, “Creature of the Wild” and Oct. 25-26, “Classic Spooktacular.” Costumes are encouraged, and bring your own reusable bag for trick-or-treating. 2. ‘Night Prowl: Creatures of the Dark’ at Brevard Zoo
The family-friendly, after hours program will be at Brevard Zoo, 8225 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. With eerie animal encounters, an after-dark stroll through the Zoo and creepy-cool activities, you’ll explore the Zoo like never before. Only guests who have preregistered may participate in the event, and participants must be at least 5 years of age. This program will take place rain or shine, so dress for the weather. 3. Rick Springfield and Richard Marx at the King Center
Rick Springfield will give a concert with Richard Marx at the King Center on Oct. 5. Visit kingcenter.com.

4. ‘Dealer’s Choice’ concert in Melbourne
The 3-2-1 Jazz Orchestra presents a “Dealer’s Choice” concert at the Melbourne Auditorium, 625 E. Hibiscus Blvd., at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9. Doors open at 6 p.m. with pre-show entertainment by the New Horizons Band. Vocalists Krystal Clarke and Dave Hutson will sing a duet titled “How Do You Like Your Eggs in the Morning?” Clarinetist Kim Speck will perform a rework of Benny Goodman’s “Sing, Sing, Sing.” 3-2-1 concerts feature a Concert Cafe seating section, which enables the audience to dance if they wish. 5. Rocktober 5K in Rockledge
The Rocktober 5K takes place at the Rockledge City Hub on Saturday, Oct. 4. Visit runsignup.com.
The fourth annual Rocktober 5K will start at the Rockledge Civic Hub, 530 Barton Blvd., at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. All ages and fitness levels are invited to run or walk. The race course will travel around the Don Griffin Trail at Lake Betsi before returning to the Hub, where awards will be presented. Proceeds will benefit McNair Magnet Middle School for recreational and athletic upgrades. The cost is $20 to $35. Visit runsignup.com.
6. Mayor’s Masquerade Ball in Cape Canaveral
The Kiwanis Club of Cocoa Beach hosts the 2025 Mayors Masquerade Ball at the Radisson Resort at the Port, 8701 Astronaut Blvd., Cape Canaveral, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. The glamorous event will feature live DJ entertainment, dinner & drinks, prizes, a live and silent auction, special guest appearances and more. Tickets are $125. 7. Sunday Sampler East concert series
The Will McLean Foundation presents the Sunday Sampler East concert series at the Hester Wagner Community House, 6200 Hall Drive, Melbourne Village, at 2 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month. The concerts feature acoustic, folk and Americana musicians from across Florida. On Oct. 5, the concert will feature Curtis Remington and Hannah’s Whirl. Admission is $15 at the door. 8. ‘Young Frankenstein’ in Titusville

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. 9. Pops Spectacle in Cocoa Beach
Riverside Presbyterian Church, 3400 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, hosts a fundraiser to benefit the Children’s Hunger Project at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will perform a “Pops Spectacle: Music of Stage and Screen” concert featuring music from Hollywood and Broadway. The audience can expect to hear music from Broadway’s biggest shows and Hollywood’s blockbuster film scores, including “The Sound of Music,” “West Side Story,” “South Pacific,” “Forrest Gump,” “Apollo 13,” “Grease,” “Evita” and more.
