90 Day Fiancé star Sumit Singh is setting the record straight about one rumor surrounding wife Jenny Slatten’s ALS diagnosis.
“What you see on some pages, some people are posting that she’s on a hospital bed and unable to do anything, which is a lie,” Sumit, 38, shared via Instagram on Monday, July 27. “Jenny don’t like that.”
The TLC reality star continued, “We’re still hoping and praying that there will be a solution and treatment for this. We are also trying to get to America. We are trying to start my Visa process.”
Back in May, Jenny, 68, revealed her ALS diagnosis for the first time via social media. At the time, the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way alum said she was “open to any kind of help,” including “treatments, clinical trials, lifestyle changes or anything that could help treat this disease or slow down its progression.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, ALS is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The disease leads to muscle weakness and other symptoms that could get worse over time. Although there is no cure for the disease, research into new therapies is ongoing.
“I’m OK,” Jenny told her followers in a new video posted via Instagram. “I talk slow, but I’m able to take care of myself … with help from [Sumit].”
Fans met Jenny and Sumit when they first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in 2019. The couple currently reside in India and are starring in a new season of 90 Day: The Last Resort.
In his latest Instagram update, Sumit assured fans he is doing all that he can to make sure his wife receives the best medical attention possible.
“It’s not like we are staying idle,” he shared. “We are trying, but I believe it’s hard for Indian to get an American visa but still, we are trying our best. Hoping that I will get the visa soon.”
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Jenny’s growing medical expenses, including mobility equipment such as a walker and wheelchair, in-home nursing or caregiver support and future hospital and treatment costs. Medication alone for one year will exceed $200,000, according to the page’s organizer.
