Could the popular 1990s alternative rock band Sugar be making a comeback?
Well, according to a recent report from Loudwire, it looks like that might be in the works.
What tipped the outlet off to that? Well, the band’s social media accounts are suddenly active, and have shared a pair of teasers from songs on the group’s “Copper Blue” album.
You can see those teasers here and here.
Sugar was only active from 1992 through 1995, meaning that this is the 30th anniversary of their final year together.
The band was fronted by Bob Mould with bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis.
Mould is the best known of the group having previously played with Hüsker Dü in the 1980s.
Loudwire noted that the band was best known for singles such as “Helpless,” which made it to No. 5 on the alternative airplay charts and “Your Favorite Thing,” which made it to No. 14 on the Alternative Airplay charts. The site said that the band’s video for “If I Can’t Change Your Mind” also received “significant airplay on MTV.”
The band released five albums: “Copper Blue” in 1992, “Beaster” in 1993, “File Under: Easy Listening,” in 1994, “Besides” in 1995 and also dropped a live album, “The Joke Is Always On Us, Sometimes,” in 2013.
