Brad Pitt’s Mother Dead At 84

Brad Pitt’s mother, Jane Etta Pitt, née Hillhouse, has died at the age of 84.

Representatives for the actor did not immediately reply with further comment.

In an emotional tribute and collection of family photos, Sydney Pitt wrote, “My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier.”

“If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked.”

Jane Pitt, a retired school counselor, raised the Oscar winner and his siblings Doug and Julie in Springfield, Missouri, alongside her husband, William Pitt, the owner of a trucking company.

Sydney Pitt remembered her grandmother for teaching her “how to be strong,” “lead with kindness,” as well as her staunch dedication to “fairness,” “putting others first” and “doing good simply because it was the right thing to do.”

“There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it,” her post continued. “I don’t know how we move forward without her. But I know she’s still here in every brushstroke, every kind gesture, every hummingbird. She was love in its purest form.”

“We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up and I know she lives on through each of us,” her remembrance concluded.

“I’m very proud of all my children. They see a need and try to step in and fill it,” she said, adding, “Whether it’s a disaster in New Orleans,” where Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation helped rebuild after Hurricane Katrina, “or all the things in Tanzania that Doug does do, or Julie’s wonderful, wonderful work in Ethiopia. It’s an amazing thing.”
