Lady Gaga fans tuning into Wednesday Season 2 were surprised to find the Grammy-winning icon missing from the first batch of episodes. Although her highly anticipated guest appearance had been confirmed months ago, Gaga doesn’t appear in Part 1, which premiered on August 6.

So, why isn’t Lady Gaga in Wednesday Season 2, Part 1? Here’s an explainer.

Who does Lady Gaga play in Wednesday and when will she appear in Season 2?

Netflix confirmed that Lady Gaga will make her debut in Wednesday Season 2 Part 2, set to release on September 3. That means viewers will need to wait just a little longer before the Monster Queen officially joins Nevermore Academy.

Lady Gaga will guest star as Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary and mysterious teacher at Nevermore Academy. Netflix teased the role during the Tudum 2025 live event in May, where Gaga made a dramatic entrance by rising from a coffin marked “Here Lies the Monster Queen.” She then performed a medley that included “Zombieboy,” a reimagined version of The Addams Family theme, “Bloody Mary,” and “Abracadabra.”

Netflix later clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that Gaga would only appear in Part 2, teasing her as a shadowy presence who chills an already eerie hall. Her character’s enigmatic nature has led to fan theories, with many speculating whether she’ll be a mentor, villain, or something far stranger.

While details remain scarce, Jenna Ortega shared her excitement about working with Gaga in an interview with People. She called the collaboration a surreal experience, praising Gaga as “one of the greatest performers, dare I say of all time.” (via People)

Part 2 of Wednesday Season 2 premieres September 3, 2025, where Lady Gaga’s Rosaline Rotwood will finally make her debut. Until then, fans can enjoy the returning cast, including Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, alongside new faces in Part 1.

Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
