WYOMISSING, Pa.- The Berks County-based PENN Entertainment is announcing changes to its casino portfolio.
Next week, the company will close its Hollywood Casino Joliet riverboat in preparation for the opening of a new land-based property.
The new Hollywood Casino Joliet, located adjacent to the Interstate 80 and Interstate 55 interchange southwest of downtown Chicago, will feature approximately 1,000 slots and 43 live table games. It’s expected to open on August 11.
The original riverboat casino opened in 1992 on the shores of the Des Plaines River.
“As we transition to our new state-of-the-art facility, we reflect on 30+ years of operating in Joliet,” said Jay Snowden, CEO and President of PENN Entertainment, in a news release. “We look forward to continuing to create best-in-class experiences for our loyal customers, welcoming new guests, and supporting this community for years to come.”
PENN Entertainment, based in Wyomissing, operates 42 casinos and racetracks across 20 states. It also has a variety of online sports betting and iCasino offerings under brands like ESPN BET and theScore BET.
