It feels like just yesterday Dancing with the Stars crowned their Season 33 winners in Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson. But, the reality competition show is gearing up for another season already, and they’ve slowly started giving updates about what to expect — including a new confirmation about the premiere date and even some of the celebrity cast members.
The dance competition series has been an ABC staple since 2005. This year will mark 20 years since the show premiered.
After ABC confirmed one cast member in April, another reveal was made on May 22, followed by two more on July 1. Here’s what we know about Season 34 of DWTS at the moment.
Is Dancing With the Stars returning for another season?
ABC renewed Dancing with the Stars for Season 34 on April 22, 2025. The show’s official Instagram page shared the news. “Cue the celebration dance 💃🕺 another season of #DWTS is coming to ABC and Disney+! 🎉 Next day on Hulu,” it said.
For the majority of its run, Dancing with the Stars has been a part of ABC’s fall lineup. It aired for one season strictly one Disney+, but went back to network TV and streaming the following year.
When will Dancing With the Stars Season 34 premiere?
Dancing With the Stars returns on Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ABC confirmed the premiere news on July 17 after previously revealing that the show will air in a two-hour time slot on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. It is followed in the lineup by High Potential.
Has the DWTS Season 34 cast been announced?
Although the cast isn’t usually announced until closer to the premiere date (typically September), ABC has announced four celebrities who will put on their dancing shoes.
Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin will join Season 34, as will social media star Alix Earle. On July 1, it was revealed that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars Whitney Leavitt and Jennifer Affleck are also part of the cast.
“Crikey! The first celebrity for the new #DWTS season is here! Who else do you want to see in the ballroom this fall? 🪩✨” the DWTS page posted on April 22. The video revealed Irwin as the first celebrity.
Exactly one month later, news of Earle’s casting was made on Good Morning America. She appeared live on the morning show to share the news.
“I’ve always been a fan of Dancing With the Stars. I used to watch it when I was so young with my grandma and she always used to say to me, ‘Maybe one day you could be on there.’ I was always so in love with dance. When this opportunity came to me, it was like, what can I do next? Where can I take this? I’m ready to challenge myself. I think it’s going to be fun. It was a very obvious answer to say yes.”
Meanwhile, Affleck and Leavitt’s casting was revealed during The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Reunion Special. At first, host Nick Viall only named Affleck as a contestant, but noted that both she and Leavitt wanted it the most. “I cannot tell you how excited I am,” Affleck gushed through tears. Later, Viall added that Leavitt would also be part of the show.
The rest of the cast, as well as everyone’s celebrity partners, will be announced at a later date.
Who will return for DWTS Season 34?
Judges Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli will likely return to the judges’ table for Season 34, as well as co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough. Inaba and Tonioli have been with the show since its first season.
As for the DWTS pros, the list changes every season based on various circumstances. Alan Bersten, Emma Slater, Sasha Farber, Gleb Savchenko, Val Chmerkovskiy, Britt Stewart, Daniella Karagach, Johnson, and Pasha Pashkov have been pros for several consecutive seasons now. Witney Carson returned for Season 33 after taking Season 32 off.
Rylee, Lindsay Arnold’s younger sister, has become a new favorite pro. Ezra Sosa made his debut as a pro in Season 33. All of these pros could return for Season 34, or ABC could switch things up and bring back others from seasons past.
