Aura Entertainment has acquired the action comedy “Code 3,” starring Rainn Wilson, Lil Rel Howery and Aimee Carrero, for distribution. The Wayfarer Studios-produced film will launch in U.S. theaters on Sept. 12.
“Code 3” follows a burned-out paramedic taking on one final 24-hour shift to train his replacement, only to find the night spiraling into chaos. Joining Wilson, Howery and Carrero for the “adrenaline-fueled thrill ride,” characterized by “heart, humor, and high-stakes action,” is an ensemble cast including Rob Riggle and Yvette Nicole Brown. The film is directed by Christopher Leone (“Parallels”) from a script he co-wrote with former paramedic Patrick Pianezza.
With the acquisition, Aura Entertainment, the recently launched U.S. film distribution company, adds to its growing slate of titles — 15 and counting — with seven slated for release in 2025. Among them is “Trap House,” starring Dave Bautista, which is set for a wide theatrical release on Nov. 14.
“’Code 3′ expands our slate of elevated, genre-bending films that truly resonate with audiences,” said Aura CEO Marc Goldberg in a statement. “It’s a hilarious, feel-good ride — anchored by two of the most beloved names in comedy today.”
Andrew Calof, president of production for Wayfarer Studios, described partnering with Aura as an “incredible experience,” adding, “They’re truly ahead of the curve in today’s ever-evolving distribution landscape, and their innovative approach aligns perfectly with our vision.”
Producers for “Code 3” are Matt Smith, for Electro Corduroy Entertainment, and Lawrence Mattis, for Circle of Confusion, as well as Wayfarer Studios’ Justin Baldoni and Calof, and Realdream’s Paul “Pizza” Pianezza. Steve Sarowitz and Angela Cardon executive produced for Wayfarer Studios, alongside Wilson and Howery, with Michael D. Jones for Silver Heart Productions.
