A few weeks ago while in Denver, I attended a 1990s exhibit at the History Colorado center. Besides remembering news events like Dolly the cloned sheep, Bill Clinton’s impeachment (“I…did not…okay, maybe I did”), O.J.’s black gloves, and Tonya Harding whacking Nancy Kerrigan, I got to stroll through a Blockbuster Video mockup and play some Mario Kart ’64. It was a mini-jaunt back to my 90s childhood in the best possible way!
Sadly, the Minnesota Twins seem destined—at least for a time—to also return to the tail end of the 20th century’s final decade. Those were rough years, which saw the franchise become the laughingstock of MLB.
Wanna know why? Well, here’s just a small reason: I present to you the last two months of play for the 1997-2000 Twins…
1997: 20-36 (68-94 final record, 4th place in AL Central)
1999: 19-39 (63-97-1, 5th)

Will our current No-Name Twins stoop to such levels (maybe this would be a good time for a Little Big League reboot)? Only time—and a long stretch of competitively-irrelevant games—will tell.
