Halle Berry’s Ex Reveals Why He Didn’t Want A Family With Her

Former MLB player David Justice said he was unsure if he wanted to start a family with ex-wife Halle Berry because she didn’t cook or clean.

“I’m looking at my mom and I’m a Midwest guy, so in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, and then I’m thinking, OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with, build a family with,” Justice said on Thursday’s episode of the podcast “All The Smoke.” “And at that time as a young guy, if you don’t cook, you don’t clean, don’t really seem motherly, and then we start having issues.”

Justice, 59, and Berry, 58, were married from 1993 to 1996. Justice said the couple didn’t receive a lot of negative attention until he “decided to leave her” in 1996. He said Berry asked him to marry her after knowing him for five months.

“I said OK,” Justice said, “because I couldn’t say no. I said OK, but I don’t know if my heart was really into it, but I didn’t want to make her feel bad and say no. I was just in the moment. It caught me off guard.”

He said they probably could have made the marriage work if they knew about therapy. He said his knowledge of relationships wasn’t vast.

Berry’s reps did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Berry has long said one of her former boyfriends was physically abusive and hit her in the head so hard that she lost hearing. On the podcast episode, Justice reiterated it was not him and expressed disappointment that Berry never named the abuser, leaving people to speculate that it was him.

“She let the world think that it was me,” Justice said. “And that I never appreciated with her. I thought she was dead wrong for that. I thought she should have handled that better.”

This isn’t the first time Justice has tried to clear his name. In 2015, Justice posted a series of tweets in which he called out Berry for vilifying her exes. He also wrote that he wasn’t the ex who was abusive.
