Travis Kelce isn’t hiding his appreciation for his megastar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, and his mother, Donna Kelce.

In an interview with GQ—published on August 12—the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, revealed the shared qualities that he admires in both Swift, 35, and Donna, 72.

When asked about the “similarities” between the two women, Travis said, “Their kindness, their genuineness, their ability to say hello to everyone in the room. Their ability to show love and support no matter what.

“And on top of that, their work ethic. I saw my mother reach goals that she had set for herself, go from being a teller to working all the way up in the KeyBank building.”

The NFL star then got choked up before saying, “I’ve seen Taylor do the exact same thing of setting goals for herself and exceeding the expectations and really captivating the world in that regard.”

There’s no denying that superstar Swift has exhibited an incredible work ethic, having released 11 studio albums (with a twelfth on the way) over her illustrious music career that’s spanned nearly two decades. The 14-time Grammy Award winner also wrapped up the highest-grossing tour of all time—The Eras Tour—in December 2024, catapulting the songwriting legend into billionaire status.

Travis further spoke about the acclaimed singer’s work ethic in relation to his own, touching on the similarities between his football career and her music career.

“I hadn’t experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions,” he told GQ.

“That was very relatable, seeing how exhausted she would get after shows. She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I’ve seen what she goes through. I’ve seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it’s mind-blowing.”

Travis continued, “To go out on a stage, on a computer, essentially, for three hours. The [Eras Tour] floor is literally—I’ve seen underneath that thing. It is a football-field-sized computer. You take that into Singapore, where it is scorching hot, and all of a sudden you’re feeling the fumes from the computer and you’re feeling the fumes from the sun and you’re doing a show for three hours with a lot of energy, bringing it every single song.

“That is arguably more exhausting than how much I put in on a Sunday, and she’s doing it three, four, five days in a row.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion is further showing his support for Swift on his New Heights podcast, which he shares with his brother, Jason Kelce.

On the morning of August 11, the podcast’s Instagram account teased a guest appearance from the “So High School” singer with an Easter egg-filledpost before later confirming the news with a clip of Swift announcing her twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The episode will debut on Wednesday, August 13 at 7 p.m.—which is unlikely to be a coincidence, as 13 is Swift’s favorite number.

In another preview shared on the podcast’s page, Travis further expressed his affection for Swift, calling her “sweetie.” The post was captioned, “Taylor’s about to do a f–king podcast!”

The Taylor Nation Instagram account—run by the pop icon’s team—had also shared clues about her next project on the morning of August 11.

The popular page posted a carousel of 12 photos of Swift sporting stylish orange outfits while performing at The Eras Tour, along with the caption, “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…'”

The post also teased a possible collaboration with pop sensation SabrinaCarpenter, as the last photo in the carousel featured the “Manchild” singer performing with Swift.

Fans will have to tune in to the New Heights episode on August 13 to collect more Easter eggs.
