NBC reality show The Traitors will roll out an all-civilian edition next year. Alan Cumming, who will once again serve as the show’s host, announced the upcoming pivot while at the Televerse 2025 conference in Los Angeles. “The money will mean more to them,” Cumming said, informing attendees that the show will begin filming next spring. “I’m pretty excited about it. I think it’s going to be a hoot.”

In the past, the show has featured reality show participants such as Bob the Drag Queen, Rob Mariano, Cirie Fields, Kate Chastain and Phaedra Parks, who were present during the Televerse panel. The fourth season of the show premieres on Peacock in 2026, featuring people who’ve appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Real Housewives franchise, Big Brother, Survivor, as well as stars like Ron Funches, Stephen Colletti, and Tara Lipinski.

Others in the NBC orbit shared Cumming’ excitement about the next version of the show. “We’re excited to bring along ‘The Traitors’ highly addictive fan base as we discover the next generation of legendary gamers and schemers,” said Sharon Vuong, the executive vice president of unscripted programming for NBCUniversal Entertainment. “With our resident host and gameplay master of ceremonies, Alan Cumming, on board to introduce complete strangers to new epic missions and twisted gameplay, this new version for NBC offers a unique opportunity for the cast and audience to meet each other for the first time and we know it will be incredible to watch.”

Stephen Lambert, the CEO of Studio Lambert (who produces the Peacock and NBC versions) noted, “We’re thrilled to be working with NBC to open up the experience to a new group of civilian players, whose stories and strategies will make the gameplay even more unpredictable – and, we hope, even more addictive for viewers.”
