Acclaimed actor and performer John C. Reilly has been tabbed to host the 2025 Americana Honors & Awards.
The 24th annual event will be held at the Ryman Auditorium Sept. 10 during Americanafest, which takes place from Sept. 9 to 13.
Reilly is renowned for work including “Step Brothers” and the 2007-released, fictional rags-to-riches rockabilly biopic “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.”
John C. Reilly takes the stage to introduce performers during the final act on Sunday, July 27 at the Newport Folk Festival.
2025 has also seen the actor an album called “What’s Not to Love?,” a collection of Great American Songbook covers. For the album, he’s backed by Americana favorites including Gabe Witcher on violin (Punch Brothers, Rosanne Cash), Sebastian Steinberg on bass (Fiona Apple, Phoebe Bridgers), and Charles De Castro on accordion and cornet (Keb’ Mo’).

What else to expect at 2025’s Americana Honors & Awards
Buddy Miller will return as the leader of the Americana awards’ all-star backing band, which will include Don Was, The McCrary Sisters, Fred Eltringham, Jen Gunderman, Jim Hoke and Larry Campbell.
This year’s contenders for the 2025 Americana awards Artist of the Year include Charley Crockett, Sierra Ferrell, Joy Oladokun, Billy Strings and Waxahatchee.
Ferrell won the award in 2024.
John C. Reilly makes a surprise appearance on Saturday, July 26, at the Newport Folk Festival.
Texas-born Crockett’s four consecutive years of Americana Honors & Awards nominations could yield him the Artist and Album of the Year trophies at 2025’s event.
The Americana Music Association’s awards include the Lifetime Achievement honorees and the “Legacy of Americana” Award, presented by the National Museum of African American Music.
