Cardi B hopped off a private jet to stunt in the music video for her latest track “Imaginary Playerz.” Making use of a sample of JAY-Z’s classic record “Imaginary Players,” the Bronx rapper boasted of her high makeup and hair budget, lavish diamonds, and vintage couture in the luxurious lyrics.
“Summer with cheeks out, Winter, it’s minks out,” bragged the 32-year-old. “I buy grown man watches and make ’em take links out, b**ch!”
“I was so happy because you guys understand, the song is kinda long… This song is like a staple for me and I had to get it approved by the one and only,” she said of Hov in an X Spaces broadcast ahead of the release. “It’s a very hip-hop record and I hope you guys enjoy it.”
“Imaginary Playerz” follows the release of “Outside” earlier this year, both building around her anticipated sophomore album, Am I The Drama, due next month. Set to feature 23 tracks, including the aforementioned singles, the work will also include 2021’s “Up,” and the 2020 Megan Thee Stallion collab, “Wap.” It will be the Grammy-winner’s first full-length release since her 2018 Invasion Of Privacy debut.
“Seven years and the time has come. Seven years of love, light, and loss,” shared the mother of three. “Seven years I gave them grace, but now I give them hell. I learned power’s not given; it’s taken. I’m shedding feathers and no more tears. I’m not back; I’m beyond. I’m not your villain; I’m your karma. The time is here. The time is now.”
