The White Sox offense goes missing again as Sean Burke and company fall flat in a 6–0 loss in Kansas City.
The Chicago White Sox offense remains missing in action. They’ve scored just three runs across their last three games, and Saturday night in Kansas City offered no rescue mission. The Royals scored in each of the first three innings, and Chicago’s bats didn’t respond with much.
Sean Burke got the start and labored through 3.2 innings that felt like three hours. He needed 85 pitches to record just 11 outs, with Royals hitters dragging him deep into counts all night. Two of the three runs he allowed were earned, and the third came courtesy of an error on what should have been a double-play ball but instead turned into a comedy sketch. Burke allowed five hits, struck out three, and walked one.
Mike Yastrzemski opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first, and John Rave, pinch-hitting for a heat-sick Vinnie Pasquantino, belted one of his own in the third.
Royals Put It Away Early
Tyler Alexander came on to clean up Burke’s mess in the fourth, but Maikel Garcia broke things open in the fifth with a two-out, two-run double. That was more than enough against a White Sox lineup that apparently packed it in after a post-All-Star break hot stretch.
Chicago’s lone offensive highlight? A two-run double off the bat of Andrew Benintendi in the eighth inning. Colson Montgomery doubled, and Luis Robert Jr. walked to start the rally. Benintendi’s knock snapped the club’s 0-10 stretch with runners in scoring position. Nevertheless, the two runs registered as only window dressing before Kansas City shut the door. The Royals cruised to a 6-2 win.

The White Sox are now 12-14 since the All-Star break, which would be fine if they hadn’t started 10-4. They’ve now dropped 10 of their last 12, including a mind-numbing 13 straight in Kansas City.
At this point, Kauffman Stadium may as well install a revolving door in the visiting dugout.

Following this loss, Chicago is now 18-43 on the road, which is the worst mark in the American League.
