Weapons Wins Box Office Battle Again as Nobody 2 Starts Weak

With Weapons and Nobody 2 featuring prominently in the latest box office weekend, their performances and audience response have drawn significant attention. While Weapons held strong in its second week with a limited drop, Nobody 2 marked its debut with a modest start. At the same time, Disney’s Freakier Friday continued to show steady results, securing a solid second-week finish.

Weapons continues to destroy movies at the box office

Weapons retained the top spot at the box office in its second weekend with an estimated $25 million from 3,450 theaters, bringing its domestic total to $89 million after 10 days (via Box Office Mojo). The Warner Bros. horror film dropped 42.5% from its debut but still outperformed new releases. Freakier Friday followed in second place with $14.5 million, while Nobody 2 debuted in third.

Weapons opened on August 8, 2025, with $43.5 million domestically. It has since reached a worldwide total of $148.7 million, including $59.7 million internationally. The film was reportedly produced for $38 million.

Its second weekend drop of around 42.5% shows unusually strong legs for a horror release. Disney’s Freakier Friday, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has earned $54.8 million domestically so far. Its global total after two weekends stands at $86.3 million.

Nobody 2 starts lower than $10 million

Nobody 2, starring Bob Odenkirk, opened in third place with $9.25 million across 3,260 theaters in North America. The Universal Pictures release earned $3.87 million on Friday, $3.11 million on Saturday, and $2.27 million on Sunday. The action-comedy sequel reportedly cost $25 million to produce and comes four years after the first film, which opened to $6.8 million during the pandemic and finished with $27.5 million domestically. Nobody 2 received a B+ CinemaScore from audiences, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting an 89% audience rating. Universal is expected to leverage premium VOD, a profitable window for its mid-budget action titles, to extend the film’s revenue.

Weapons led with $25 million, followed by Freakier Friday at $14.5 million. Nobody 2 opened with $9.25 million in third place. The August 15–17, 2025 weekend box office showed a competitive but steady late-summer marketplace. It was bolstered by both holdovers and new releases.
