Forget about the ocean — Joe Jonas had some cake by the clouds.
The Jonas Brothers member, 36, revealed in a new interview that he became a member of the Mile High Club just “a couple years ago” — and ended up “embarrassing” himself immediately afterward.
“I was wearing contacts, left the bathroom. I thought I was high-fiving my drummer,” he recalled on the “Are You Okay?” social media show on Tuesday, August 19. “After the high-five, I realized it was the flight attendant.”
Fortunately, Jonas was on a private jet, so he noted that he was not “banned from flying” ever again.
“Was it worth it?” host Bri Morales asked the singer, who chuckled and proudly replied, “Yeah.”
Jonas’ midair romp likely occurred sometime before August 2022, when he underwent eye surgery to correct his two-decade battle with nearsightedness. The DNCE frontman had EVO ICL lenses implanted as opposed to getting LASIK, which removes corneal tissue and therefore is more invasive.
“I’ve been performing and touring ever since I was 15 years old with my brothers, and, after long days and nights, I wished I didn’t have to worry about accidentally sleeping with my contacts in or keeping track of where I put my glasses and to simply be able to wake up and see clearly,” he told Brinton Vision at the time.
“After speaking with my doctor about this advanced new technology, I chose EVO, as I felt like it was finally time to upgrade my vision and change how I could see the world,” he continued. “It was a seamless, easy procedure for me that quickly gave me sharp, clear vision day or night without inducing dry eye syndrome. The results are life-changing for me, and with EVO, I now can simply wake up and go about my day.”
Jonas was still married to Sophie Turner when he underwent the procedure, though they separated in September 2023. The exes, who share daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, finalized their divorce in September 2024 after an acrimonious custody battle.
“I’m unhappy with the way everything played out, especially when it comes to my children. They’re the victims in all of this,” Turner, 29, told British Vogue in May 2024. “But I think we’re doing the best we can. I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children, and that’s all that I can ask for.”
During his divorce, Jonas briefly dated model Stormi Bree, but he admitted in May that putting himself back out there was “really scary and intimidating.”
“Love takes different shapes and forms,” he explained during a TalkShopLive stream, “and I was rediscovering what that was.”
