Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra’s loved ones are paying tribute to her after her death at age 33.
“Martha had a special way of lighting up every room she walked into, whether it was her signature ‘Hi’ or her famous hand gestures,” her partner, Nicholas DiRubio, said at the Wednesday, August 20, service per the Irish Mirror. “One couldn’t help feel her positive presence in every space she entered.”
He continued, “Martha had a way of putting people first. She loved helping people and many of you in this room have been lucky enough to experience that love, whether it was telling you to cop on or focus on the good in this life, or just being a shoulder to lean on. The shining light that Martha brought into this world is a reflection of everybody in this room. For friends, family, loved ones, both past and present, we’ve all been lucky to have known Martha and we must live every day forward with her in our hearts. May she rest in peace.”
Her sister, Jacqui, called Nolan-O’Slatarra her “built-in best friend,” adding, “Martha, my beautiful sister, you taught me everything I needed to know in life. I didn’t always see you, but I always knew you were there.”
Nolan-O’Slatarra was honored at The Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, at 10 a.m. The service was followed by a burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow, according to Rip.ie.
Nolan-O’Slatarra’s death was confirmed on August 5 by the Suffolk County Police Department after a body was found on a boat at the Montauk Yacht Club just after midnight.
The East Hampton Town Police reportedly received a 911 call about the discovery of an unconscious body, per ABC News. Authorities reported that some individuals on the scene attempted to revive Nolan-O’Slatarra by CPR, with NBC News claiming that she was pronounced dead by first responders.
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic incident that took place. Our team is cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff. We have no further comment at this time,” a Montauk Yacht Club spokesperson told CBS.
A preliminary investigation and examination were inconclusive about Nolan-O’Slatarra’s cause of death, authorities told NBC News. Police shared that an autopsy “did not show evidence of violence.” Nolan-O’Slatarra’s final cause of death is pending further examination, per the outlet.
Nolan-O’Slatarra’s mom, Elma, was reportedly asked by detectives whether her daughter had been battling brain cancer. The Irish Independent reported that Elma was “astounded” by the allegations and said Nolan-O’Slatarra was “perfectly healthy.”
In the aftermath of Nolan-O’Slatarra’s death, her family is still searching for “details,” attorney Arthur Aidala told The celebrity.land. Aidala noted that the “circumstances surrounding this are far from typical.”
“They would like to know anyone who was with Martha that evening. Earlier that evening, at the time of the actual incident, we know one person who was there. Was anyone else around?” Aidala said, claiming that her family “did not know her to be someone who used drugs.”
Aidala alleged in a press conference that “people are still being questioned,” adding, “The family has had a sit-down with the Suffolk County homicide detectives. They are doing a deep, deep dive, a deep investigation.”
He also claimed that the family is “absolutely” concerned that Nolan-O’Slatarra could have unknowingly consumed a drug. “If there was any kind of drug and drug use, they want to know. Who’s doing the drugs?” he said.
