Members of the cast of “Home Improvement” will come together for a reunion on Tim Allen’s new sitcom.
Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning will join Allen for the Season 2 premiere of ABC‘s “Shifting Gears,” Deadline reported.
While details of the episode are still under wraps, Deadline said their characters will support Allen’s character “in an unexpected way.”
Premiering in January, “Shifting Gears” follows Matt Parker: a stubborn, widowed owner of car restoration shop. The show kicks off when Matt’s estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and his two grandchildren move into his house.
Richardson played Allen’s wife, Jill Taylor and Karn portrayed his “Tool Time” co-host Al Borland during “Home Improvement’s” original run from 1991 to 1999.
Dunning joined in the third season as Heidi, the “Tool Time” assistant, replacing Pamela Anderson who played Lisa in the first two seasons.
The impending reunion will not be the first time Allen has worked with his former “Home Improvement” co-stars.
Both Karn and Richardson previously made guest appearances on Allen’s sitcom “Last Man Standing,” though in separate episodes.
Karn and Allen have also collaborated on two History Channel shows, “Assembly Required” and “More Power.”
The Season 2 premiere of “Shifting Gears” airs Wednesday, Oct. 1.
