Julie Chrisley and Todd Chrisley insist there’s nothing wrong with their marriage after returning home from prison.
“I want to be completely transparent, there is an adjustment period,” Julie, 52, shared during the Wednesday, August 20, episode of their “Chrisley Confessions 2.0” podcast. “It’s not an adjustment period in our marriage, per se — it’s just an adjustment period, back to life.”
Todd, 56, and Julie spent 28 months in prison after being convicted of tax evasion and bank and wire fraud in 2022. They were given a “full unconditional pardon” by President Donald Trump in May and were released from prison that month. (Todd teased that the family’s upcoming docuseries will offer a more in-depth look at their legal situation.)
Todd made it clear that he and Julie haven’t had “any trouble reconnecting” following their release.
“No, so the parts still worked. They still fit,” he joked. “It’s like plugging into the same station.”
Julie also addressed comments about Todd “cutting” her off in the middle of a conversation during a previous episode.
“Listen, Todd and I have been together for 31 years. Trust me when I say I can stand my own ground,” she said. “I can stand with the best of them. I have stood with him for 31 years. No one needs to worry about that.”
Julie said she’s aware that her husband can “get a little lippy sometimes” and knows when to “put him in his place.”
“Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen,” she continued. “Let me just say that.”
Julie went back to explaining her and Todd’s “adjustment period” post-prison.
“I don’t believe anyone can go through what we went through and think that you are not changed because you are. There are differences. You view things differently, you react differently. It is what it is,” she said. “I’ve talked to many people who have been to prison. I’ve talked to people that I was in prison with that have come home and have faced similar issues.”
She added, “So, yes, there is an adjustment period, but our marriage is not struggling. Our marriage is not fragile. We survived prison. We survived being away from each other for 28 months, not being able to speak other than through emails that you may or may not get.”
This is not the first time Todd and Julie have addressed questions about the status of their marriage since being released. The couple addressed divorce rumors during an appearance on daughter Savannah Chrisley’s “Unlocked” podcast last month.
“Let me set the record straight,” Julie said. “We are not getting divorced.”
