For some, reality television offers a sense of comfort. As bad as it may seem, observing the drama, issues, and arguments of others can make viewers feel that their own problems are less significant. Alternatively, it can serve as a subtle reminder that even those who appear to have everything in order face challenges.
Reality television’s psychological impact extends beyond simple entertainment, potentially causing harm when consumed excessively. Constant exposure to its dramatic, exaggerated portrayals can lead viewers to feel dissatisfied with their own calmer, more ordinary lives. Therefore, like all things, reality television should be enjoyed in moderation.
