John Cena says he drank diet Mountain Dew for weeks
John Cena appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on August 13, where he made a shocking confession about his diet. During his segment, the Peacemaker star went head-to-head against Fallon in a fun game of Wild Guess.
The pair took turns sharing a bizarre fact about themselves, and the other had to guess whether it was true. It was during one of his turns when Cena stated that he once drank Diet Mountain Dew for weeks.
“I used to go whole weeks where all I drank was Diet Mountain Dew,” Cena revealed, leaving Fallon visibly confused. Although he was initially skeptical, wondering how it was possible given Cena’s impeccable physique, Fallon ended up guessing it was true. After a tense drumroll, Cena confirmed that Fallon was indeed correct.
This isn’t the first time that we have learned about this questionable habit in Cena’s past. During a 2024 interview with Denise Salcedo, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recalled giving Cena a ride to his hotel, where he witnessed his odd routine.
“And I found out that during his diet…he was not drinking water for a week. The only thing he drank was Diet Mountain Dew. I was shocked,” Henry recalled.
It soon became a running gag between the two WWE stars. “And I remind him of it all the time. Every time I’ll see him and I’ll go, ‘Had your Diet Mountain Dew?’ He’ll go, ‘I was young and stupid,’” Henry joked.
John Cena recently returned as the titular DC hero in the highly anticipated sophomore season of James Gunn’s Peacemaker. The debut episode, “The Ties That Grind,” premiered on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
